My opinion in a quick sentence version is that it is a great game, that is sadly a bit ruined by side missions/collectibles. I think a solid 8 for such a game is what I would say in terms of numerical value.

I haven't played the game but aren't side missions and collectibles usually optional? If so how are they ruining the game?

The game is pretty easy even on hard (at least compared to some games I have been playing lately), sure getting 3 star on the challenges are hard, but you don't need any to make platinum. 2 starts is easy enough to make in first try (besides drone, which can get you a while).

How did you get all the suits without the challenge tokens? I've 2 stared all with two of them at 3 stars but I'm still in need of challenge tokens.

I wish I knew about this before starting (this is why I say its badly balanced as all other items you can get tons of)...

Save your tokens (dont spend them), SAVE the Game.... then basically spend them all either on upgrades or Suits in one go, get the achievement and then reload and then you can spend it on the other. (I'd probably spend it all on the suits first as they have less impact).

I've got silver in all challenges and I'm about 30 challenge tokens away somehow.... its crap :D

Well I got 3 star in two fighting challenges (6 tokens);

Also I didn't expend a token until the end of the game and then I was able to buy all clothes.

Not sure if it interferes in the suits or not, but the pre-buy version came with a bonus for clothes so perhaps I got a little ahead because of it.

Have you finished all the challenges? Have you put any token into upgrading your weapons or powers on the suit? Because that may be the issue. I think I even got 2 or 3 challenges with one star and was still able to buy all weapon upgrades until the only the last one was available for half of them, and also bought all the skill upgrades that didn't need challenge tokens.

Perhaps New Game+ will be a need for you.

It felt like any other superhero type games if I'm to be honest, but it's not a bad thing, I've always enjoyed the ones I've played like Second Son, Arkham Games, Prototype( more like a villain?), etc. . . anyways, it was really enjoyable even if it felt a bit grindy but not as much as Arkham Knight, will try to get the DLC's if they're worth getting.

Well, screw doing all that again. I have manuel saves but I guess the platinum won't be for me. Funny, that even if you 3 star all challenges there would be half enough tokens to go around.

Man that doesn't make any sense. Some challenges give double amount the usual. And the game is classified as 2.5 difficult to plat on guides so something is wrong, perhaps you have put a lot of tokens on the useless weapon upgrade (I didn't even use them, I played it as if it was God of War, a lot of perfect dodge and combo without ever using the weapons kkkk, unless there were bonus on mission that needed it)

Yeah. I put all my 2 stars into upgrades and suit skills and what not. No worries though, They are much easier to 3 star than it appears, I just went and done a few bomb challenges, combat and stealth challenges and got enough tokens no problem and go the suit trophy. Still doesn't make sense that I only have 9 total tokens on my map to unlock and loads of upgrades left to get. I may be wrong but there doesn't seem to be enough tokens to go around.

I suspect if you get all challenges on 3* you may get all upgrades, but yes, I agree it is a bad way to do the platinum since you only need to finish all challenges once on any classification plus have a 2* in each category... I was able to get all suits when I was still lacking first try in 4 or 5 challenges, but I always read the trophy guide introduction and sometimes first part to be sure there isn't anything really bad I could do to stop me (and on upgrades I never do they until I can't win anymore without doing, and when doing I see what is more important).

Huh, am I the only one that got 3 star on almost all of them? I think I didn't bother with two of them, and that is because I didn't feel like wasting another ten minutes on them and settled for 2 stars for them on my first try.

Challenge note:

I forget how many you needed. The Stealth/Bombing ones were the easiest and you could do it within one or few tries. The Drones one were the hardest.

They are tied to the RPG mechanics and upgrade systems so technically they aren't optional. They are to a certain degree but you'll need to do them if say, you want to change your suit or grab a new power for that suit or gain gadgets and upgrades for those gadgets.

I'm going for the 100 percent and have 80+ percent map completion but I'm still in need of the tokens the side content dolls out.

Pretty much what John said. I think I liked 1 side mission of the dozen side missions and one secret thing. However still like I said main game is great.

The game is amazing, but still has some flaws. Why can't spidey duck behind something. Am I missing a button. He just stands there. you can squat on a pole yet duck behind a wall? The mostly automatic movement is also a bit hard to control in the drone missions as well as stealth missions.

And now I just read I might have screwed myself as I've been spending challenge tokens already :/

I don't mind the side missions, much preferable over cut scenes. The older I get the less patience I have to sit through them. So far I've cleaned up all the side stuff before going to the next main mission, says enough. I'm at 67% and the next mission is back to school I think. No thanks, I hated school, I'll clean up the challenges first.
