Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dead Cells on Switch is outselling the PS4 by a factor of 4 to 1

Thanks for this post. Checked and there s a physical version of the game!

Instant buy on Switch for me

Nintendo was offering a 20% discount if you pre-ordered. Then you get 5% of the cost of the game back in coins to spend on other games. I'm not sure if Sony offered a pre-order discount, but if not, then that explains a lot about where the game is selling.

Theres also the option of buying games you didn't buy in 2017? Or buy games on other consoles you own?

Nintendo is not forcing anyone to buy indie games.

I already picked up the best of 2017 on Switch. Zelda and season pass, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart Deluxe even if i already own it on WiiU, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 and Season pass, Mario rabbids, Fire emblem warriors. And i buy games on PS4 Pro and Xbox One S. On PS4 i have to chose. Dragon Quest or Spider-Man? Just an example, the dilemma should be expanded to many more titles. On Switch what should i play?
I'd like to use all of my consoles, especially the new ones. I don't want to see another WiiU with 2 inches of dust, so that's why if i have to chose an indie probably i'll play it on Switch, otherwise I should keep the console off for a huge amount of time and i hate this thing. You know, if i spent 400 euro of console, i'd like to use it. If it weren't for Hollow Knight (i bought it in August) it would have been turned off since February, and in February i got Bayonetta 1-2 that i already got on WiiU so... No big games it's the answer at the attach rate question. And i have more consoles. If someone own only Switch and want to play something, the question becomes even more serious. Indie 1 or indie 2? Or maybe indie 3?

You still dont get it.

If they want to play games on their switch, THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS!!!!

1. Buy 1st Party games

2. Buy 2nd Party Games

3. Buy 3rd Party Games

4. Buy Indie games

Its just that for you, you had no interest in buying the other games in option 1 2 and 3. So you went to 4. Soooo you had the option to not buy indie games.

Ofc it is, when the Switch is getting 1 game in the next couple of months.

Factually wrong. But nice narrative goalpost. indies just sell better on Switch because the installbase cares more. Simple as that. It would sell like this even with 20 triple A titles getting released on Switch and 0 on PS4 in the same month. Interest is what matters. Let's not make excuses.

Did you think that was a fact?

Name me 1 big game coming on Switch other then Smash Bros this holiday season.

Might be my next purchase, might not.

Pokemon, Dark Souls Remastered, Fifa 19, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Mario Party?

Not the greatest list. I think those can all be considered somewhat "big" though.

5. Buy a game on their Xbox or PS4

There is another topic that states the nearly 3/4 of Switch owners owner at least and Xbox ONe or PS4 as well. So why the hell would they care if the Switch has a DROUGHT or not. THey aren't required to buy some quota of games in a year on a system. If no games come out on the Switch they want, they don't need to buy one. They are not dying to play a video game and buying anything because they can just play on another system.

All these Sony defenders on this topic talk as if Switch owners are dying of thirst and grabbing any bottle of water they see. We are not. There are plenty of games on the Switch that are good, and there are plenty of games on other systems that we own that we can buy. We do not need to buy anything on the switch to get our game fix.

One thing I can say about indies, is that they are great to play on Switch, because they don't eat up your battery. If I play Zelda in handheld mode I can go maybe 90 minutes and then I have to charge again. On the other hand I played Axiom Verge for 5-6 hours straight and I still didn't need to charge it at the end.

If I were going on a long trip, then I would definitely want a game like Dead Cells. I just couldn't play a AAA game that long.

Neat. Will have to see if 3D Dark Souls can mirror the 2D Dark Souls when/if it gets released on Switch.

I wonder how much Dark Souls remastered could've sold on Switch, had it released alongside the other versions.
