Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow! (09/13/18)

Looks like I am working from home on Friday.
I'm cool with that ^^

Optimistic about this one. Not expecting much megaton but should be a good show

They reutilized Dark Moon's engine. It's simple and cost effective. The end.

No the end to it. Would've made much more sense to make it for an actual thriving platform rather than a dying on its last legs platform.

The is a lot more to it then you think people here in forums may complain about the 3DS but the reality of the situation is that giving the 3DS a good send off is just as important as in years to come the Switch will be the one having a long life so rather than just drop a userbase they're phasing it out in a way that will help migrating  of consumers and build long term confidence in future platforms.

35 minute direct. That means

5 minutes devoted to a huge plethora of totally new games unannounced until now.
30 minutes devoted to Smash details that we somehow haven't learned already.

I do hope you're just joking. I've seen this comment far more than enough to trigger me, but I expected more from you. I guess Smash haters are really just that burned out from the amount of Smash present in a SMASH-FOCUSED DIRECT and a SMASH DIRECT, to the point where they can't even tell the difference anymore. This direct will not spend a large portion of its running time on any particular game, because Nintendo hasn't said it would - unlike their E3 presentation, which wasn't only previously announced to be Smash-centric, it was also the third E3 presentation in a row by Nintendo to focus on a single game. People just hated on this one because it's a multiplayer game.

You are wrong. E3 2016 only had a BOTW-trailer and E3 2017 was pretty even between what they showed. It's E3 and people are expecting new games, not that Pit has shorter hair or whatever other change they have made to every character in the game. It was  35 minutes of pure boredom hoping for one more big thing at the end that never came

I'm just kidding.  I plan to get the game in December.

I do feel like E3 gave me enough info on Smash though.  The direct that came later seemed like overkill.  I'm already going to get the game, and I'm ok with some details actually being a secret.

What's the point in keeping selling points secret?

Seriously people are really overestimating how much attention the 3DS will get in this direct. Its probably going to give the Bowser's Inside Story a release date, a reminder for Luigi's Mansion, localization news like Persona Q2 and maybe a cross platform game like Fire Emblem Warriors, Captain Toad, and Sushi Striker. All of which will probably take up at most 5 minutes.

Quick prediction, if they do focus heavily on Smash in some way. It will be online play due to possibly a beta launching the same day as the paid online service.

New Direct means new Smash character reveal! I don't think it will be someone big since this is not a Smash Direct. As for everything else I expect a New Super Mario Bros Wii U port.

Cloud was revealed in the general direct instead of a smash direct.

No. We "hate on" this because Smash is way overdone. Everyone already knows what the game is, we don't need all this time dedicated to is. They could have instead used 2-3 minutes to talk about the new features and dedicated more time to some interesting information.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If anyone is expecting Metroid news or an Animal Crossing for Switch announcement, I think you guys are gonna be disappointed. If they talk about 2019 titles, it'll most likely just be for the first half of the year at most. Stuff like Yoshi and No More Heroes (which got a January 2019 release date). At most, we may get Fire Emblem.

I'm expecting this one to be more ports, 1st and 3rd party, to help fill out the rest of 2018, Online stuff, the 3DS' Curtain Call, and focus on Mario Party, Pokemon, and Smash Bros.
