I'm just kidding.  I plan to get the game in December.

I do feel like E3 gave me enough info on Smash though.  The direct that came later seemed like overkill.  I'm already going to get the game, and I'm ok with some details actually being a secret.

What's the point in keeping selling points secret?

It's kind of like a movie trailer.  You want to give enough away to get people interested.  You don't want to spoil the ending or even the whole plot though.  That is just too much.

After E3, I think people basically made up their mind if they were going to buy the game or not.  I would have been ok if I didn't know about Simon Belmont in the game though.  That would have been a nice surprise.  Really the E3 info was enough.

You are wrong. E3 2016 only had a BOTW-trailer and E3 2017 was pretty even between what they showed. It's E3 and people are expecting new games, not that Pit has shorter hair or whatever other change they have made to every character in the game. It was  35 minutes of pure boredom hoping for one more big thing at the end that never came

Yeah Ridley and every Smash Bros. character ever being in the game weren't big things. Oh wait, you were expecting something at the end that wasn't Smash? Well, congratulations on setting yourself up for disappointment. Nintendo's E3 2017 had Super Mario Odyssey all over it, and it was what they finished with, no one complained. E3 2016 was Breath of the Wild only.

Nintendo didn't have to announce any big games for beyond 2018 at E3, because they were already announced previously. We already knew Metroid, Pokémon and Bayonetta are coming. The only reason Nintendo even bothered showing Fire Emblem was because it was previously announced for 2018, so they had to clear up the situation regarding that game. Otherwise, they didn't talk about anything 2019 at all, except Daemon Ex Machina, which I guess no one really understands.

And that's were they should have stopped, everything else they showed was a waste of time in that current context.

edit: And the Odyssey-trailer was less than 3 minutes long

Last year's direct had like zero announcements so im not expecting anything major. Maybe Yoshi? Anyway im just expecting infos on games we already know (except big ones like MP4 and B3).

zero?? Doom, LA Noire and Wolfenstein 2 were announced there.

Well as much as it was nice To have third party games confirmed these are still ports..

I mean zero major announcements like exclusives.

Your analogy doesn't fit because  the plot is not even comparable to gameplay and features what you're suggesting is more akin to having a trailer that shows nothing but a blank screen, fact is the majority of consumers old and new would be more inclined to pick up the game knowing about the features.

I would like, but will not be salty if I do not get:

Arena of Valor release date (and price).
Warframe release date (and price).
Travis for Smash Bros.
A new exclusive RPG in the vein of Octopath.

-info and release date for Nintendo Switch paid online services
-complete list of NES games available through the service on day 1
-Smash Bros character reveal and hidden mode reveal
-Xenoblade X deluxe edition
-Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee new pokemon reveal
-hopefully Pikmin 4

thats as hopeful as im willing to get for this direct. best not to set your expectations too high

Source? Or is this just you speculating? A port of Xenoblade X would be fantastic news!

just speculation. although to be completely accurate everything i listed will be shown at some point, just no guarantee for tomorrow. Smash and online are a given, they have said a new pokemon will be shown early in Lets Go, and Xenoblade X and Pikmin 4 are both heavily hinted at

Initially thinking there wouldn't be much for me here, but surely they'll show some 2019 stuff, so Fire Emblem and Yoshi could make an appearance!

Yeah, I thought people would know what I meant. I want to purchase the content like I did with Paladins.

Agreed. If I was a non-Smash fan, seeing a poster of Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Ryu, Mega Man, Cloud, AND Simon, along with some of the most iconic Nintendo franchises in history, old and new, would be the most hype thing I would ever see. As a gaming fan in general, this is basically promoting the fact that Ultimate, as said by Sakurai, is the “biggest crossover in gaming history.” That is something very Few games, before and, maybe, after, can argue against. This is like Justice League Unlimited or Avengers Infinity War.
