Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony Boss: Fortnite On PlayStation 4 Is The Best Experience For Users

He has a point regardless but he's not entirely correct if he mean that by sheer size of the player base since PC probably dwarfs all with mobile users not being too far behind PS I can imagine ...

However, if we take further context into what he meant by best as in the available console platform then it can't be argued ...

Oh SONY you do a right movement, Fortnite will be dead in a couple month , just ignore these ultra super minority people who want cross play . They don't bring you money.

yes it would and honestly, if I lived close to my niece I would've taken her ps4 and traded it in for an Xbox one because of sony being stubborn

She would have cried I bet. I know I would have if my uncle had kicked open the screen door, and traded in my ColecoVision for an Intellivison because he was mad over how Coleco was staggering Cabbage Patch Kids shipments. Or whatever. I'm glad there's some distance between the two of you, so that she could be spared from your forced downgrade. #kidslovethatps4

I know my niece I'm pretty sure once I told her she will have access to plenty more games on her Xbox due to my kid's extensive library of lego games  as well as Xbox backward compatibility she would be ecstatic

What puzzles me on this topic is the contradictions and inconsistency of the gamers.
They complained last gen when MS didn't want to provide Cross Play support and now that the industry has turned around and all companies are dipping there toes in it, even Nintendo, Sony decides to throw it in everyone's face and say we wont be part of it because we are the top selling console, even worse claiming a better experience.. This is Fortnite, not some 1st party big AAA exclusive. Fortnite wont play any better with or without cross play (Hence Sony's BS response)

As a gamer, why is this a bad thing? How does it affect the PlayStation gamers? Do they not know there are many gamers with multiple systems, there are actually gamers without PS4s. I don't get why some gamers don't want this, okay that's fine, you don't need to care about it BUT to say there with Sony on this is a sad reason for a company to get away with this anti consumer practice. Same goes for BC, many on this site also stuck up for Sony with the lack of BC on PS4.. Why? It mind baffles me. Cross Play extends the life of a product. It puts friends togethers that own different consoles.

What's even worse is to think if this was MS PR, how would the exact same few hating on the cross play feature react if MS was the one not Sony saying this?
When I grew up, this was all but a dream in the 90s, to see companies playing together increasing our own experiences, todays modern gamers are so spoilt for choice and throw down the options when basically we can get them for free that doesn't hurt anyone. I guess greed for a company is more important than the actual fun of the business.

I probably missed it but so far I haven't seen them stepping up to clarify anything. They're responsible for not just making the game but also making sure that there is balance for whenever they decide to make it maltiplat/crossplay.

I feel they've been clear enough.

It's clear they're lazy to fix the balancing issue. Maybe then crossplay would be a thing. at least that's what I think is the problem.

"Every day I look in the mirror and ask myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?". If the answer is no for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something"

Steve Jobs

Does he know that the PC and Xbox One X exist?

Sony is heading straight back into the mindset they had in 2006 and since we are approaching the ending of this console gen, this is far from a good thing. We've seen how fast consumers opinion on a brand/company can turn in this industry and if Sony keeps acting this arrogant it will hurt at the start of next gen.

And you care about what I think because...? Anywhere, I don't particularly care, but I think this is quite despicable from Sony. That's not to defend the others either, of course, especially since Microsoft was in a similar situation during last generation.

Lol because you are on an online forum and because opinions usually have some justification to them.

If you need to ask such a question then perhaps your need to rethink using online forums.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter what Sony says.

It's not like Microsoft says they are doing cross play because they' user base trails Sony significantly, or because it's a money play.

Nintendo doesn't say they do it because they want more 3rd support, or because it's a money play.

Everything all these companies do is for money first and foremost.

I know the situation with the other companies. What Sony says, however, feels like an excuse to me, but what the others have said haven's seemed like excuses to me.

1. Do you believe everything a company says in its marketing material? I don't, and that's why I don't consider this the real reason.

2. I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to get at here.

3. I disagree. Here we have a disagreement that's the result of fundamentally differing points of view though, so discussing this point any further is probably pointless.

1. What a redundant question. It seems you did not read and understand what is written underneath the link.

2. Indeed. As so many others don't understand.

3. I agree. No point in continuing. Not because of fundamentally differing PoVs. Fundamentally there is no fundament for your viewpoint.

Kerotan said: Where was this outcry last gen when Sony wanted to but MS didn't?

4. See, this what am talking about. There was no outcry, because Cross(Platform)Play wasn't made relevant by anyone. There was no "similar situation".

1. What a way to dismiss someone's opinion. "You don't understand." Well, it seems like you don't understand my opinion, so let's use that as my argument from now on.

2. You don't seem to understand my issue.

3. I agree. Your point is quite unclear and difficult to understand and you're clearly unwilling to clarify it, so no point in continuing. Have fun reveling in your superiority!

4. Ah, another case of "you don't understand".

PSVR doesn't count?

Seems more of an add-on than a platform.

I guess if your talking different platforms and not different experiences, which is mostly what those other platforms offer, isn't it?

In that case, isn't the switch a different experience in handheld mode than on a big screen TV?

EricHiggin said:

Switch would be 3 different experiences in one using the same hardware. Unless your talking about Labo, and I'm not exactly sure that counts as hardware.
Good point about the phones. That could extend to Windows and Steam for PC though too couldn't it?

Docked, Handheld and Tabletop. I said no additional expense, Labo is out of the question since it acts as a peripheral.
How you classify mobiles and PC does not matter since they are on both sides of the equation.
