Thoughts and prayers to those affected. I can't believe someone would shoot up a place over a video game...

Really sad to see this happening. They were there just having fun, didn't deserve this at all.

PS: Does anyone knows how many mass shootings took place this year in US?

EDIT: Already found out:

That can't be right... have their seriously been 291 mass shootings in the US this year alone or did I read it wrong?

You read it right, 291 incidence's of Mass Shootings so far this year.

Hence the "just another day in america" stuff people are writeing.

Depending on how you define mass shooting.  That tracker says any shooting with 4 or more people shot (dead and/or injured) in one incident is tallied.  Under that definition of mass shooting, that has indeed been 291 so far this year.

And this madness will be allowed to continue.

That's crazy! Are things really that messed up down there in the US?

How does it compare to other countries?

So for people that love their guns, the solution is more guns. Everyone need to be armed and everyone should have the right to conceal and carry into any event or building. Why have a gun license if you cannot carry it everywhere you go. Having to go to the car and get your gun while someone shoot up a building isn't going to resolve the situation fast enough.

The more armed American citizens there are, the better to respond to such incidents. Of course the problem is that not everyone is given the same rights to carry a gun when the police show up. If your skin is any color with a shade to it, the likelihood that you get shot first before they find out it was not you is high.

Either way, nothing will change in America. Americans love their guns, big money is behind selling guns and just like healthcare as some mentioned saving lives isn't really a high priority to Americans. Protecting their rights is way more important than any solution to stem away death.

My country has millions of laws, but at least something this will never happen.

I so hate reading all the "just another day in America, another mass shooting"

Anytime I read that I say get off your fucking high horse whoever you are. The same can be said about anywhere else and some other act of violence. Feels like ever few weeks I hear about some vehicle driving into multiple people from some terrorist in Europe somewhere. There are plenty of statistics done showing that having guns can decrease gun violence. There are also places like Chicago that have INSANE gun laws and they are one of the highest gun violence places in the world. Oh, you say they get their gun elsewhere, huh? Well to that I say they are all fucking gang members and would get their guns just as easily if the entire US was illegal for guns. They don't fucking drive to another state to buy guns. Someone comes in and sells them, because there is profit to be made. That would not change if guns became illegal. It would just make it more lucrative cause they would charge more due to more risk/work bringing them in. Some of the richest people in the US became so due to alcohol becoming illegal and they making a killing selling it.

Don't pretend that wherever you are is so holy because guns are banned. There are shit people everywhere.

As for the situation here, I'm surprised this si really the first time this has happened at a gaming event. I've seen enough videos of gamers freaking out insanely, breaking shit, ect that one would think that if in those situations there was people around and they weren't streaming alone in their room they might take that frustration out on someone.

Am I blaming games? No, games are just the medium in those cases. Same thing is visible when a persons sports team loses or anything other passion of someones loss. There is a thing called Crime of Passion.

Yep. And its especially annoying because unlike many other countries, USA is completely transparent and in the global language of English. USA has its own problems with gun related deaths sure, but other countries certainly have big problems as well like with bombings.

It's ok everyone... I'm sure the shooter was part of a well regulated militia

As much as this is a senseless, preventable tragedy, with lives wasted, that never hould have happened, this made me crack up. Props for actually knowing something about the second amendment.

They consider anything involving more than two people and a gun being involved as a mass shooting which includes accidental discharges, gang shootings, etc. I wouldn't be surprised they count defensive shootings involving more than two culprits as a mass shooting. It's a deceptive way to inflate the number and use word association to their benefit.

Yeah, but all of these countries where bombings happen regularly are 3rd world countries. The US on the other hand, is still a developed country. It's facing this issue that no other developed country seems to have, yet it doesn't want to do anything about it.

There has been so much pain of late! So many people here are struggling with loneliness and loss. And we just lost Nymeria only shortly ago. And now this! It's like "Can't life ease up a little and give us a chance to breathe? This is too much!" It is. There's too much tragedy in and around this community and in and around gaming lately. We need time to process.
