Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sadness news (The Wii Game)

Despite being more elusive than a Wii last Christmas, a tiny piece of news on Nibris' Sadness has managed to worm its way out today, with confirmation that the Polish studio is developing the title with the Gamebryo engine.

The engine, created at Emergent, has been used in several high-profile titles in the past, including Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Civilization IV, and Empire Earth II. Bethesda is also returning to the engine for this Autumn's Fallout 3.

"Without a doubt, Gamebryo is the most powerful engine available for the Wii. After getting familiar with the engine several months ago we made the decision to choose Gamebryo. Since then, our team has been working on Sadness and we are quite impressed," said Tomasz Wisniowski, Project Manager of Nibris. "We will have quite a few graphical effects in our game, which some believe are impossible to attain on the Wii. Gamebryo helped make it possible. We are firmly convinced we made the right choice."

"From the early stages of pre-production with Sadness, Nibris realized that they would need development technology that allowed for an extreme amount of flexibility in the creative process, which is a cornerstone of the Gamebryo framework," said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent. "Sadness is designed to push the bounds of Wii technically and creatively. We are thrilled to be a part of Nibris' ground-breaking product. We're really looking forward to playing Sadness on Wii."

Nibris has largely kept quiet during Sadness' development to date, though the original announcement back in 2006 revealed that the game would be exclusively black-and-white, and take place in a Slavic country before the start of World War I. Supernatural creatures including werewolves and Liktos, together with other elements of Slavic mythology, have also been revealed to dwell in the atmospheric game world.

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

Nice graphics. I would have expected it though since the game is done in black and white.

Wait a minute? There aren't any colors in the game? Good news for color blind people but...how in the hell are we suppose to play games without colors? Well, we can but not quite as good. Ah whatever, I don't care. About the color thing, I mean. Now.

Yes, it was impossible to watch movies before color TV, so it must be the same with games now? ;) If it gets harder to see and notice things because of the lack of color, it may actually make the game more scary.

That picture isn't confirmed....

Nothing about Sadness is.

Don't get your hopes up til we start seeing moving builds of the game.

Yeah, I'm waiting for a decent trailer of the game. Its shaping up like a RE4 styled game - except less guns, and more sneaking (and more horror) - maybe more Silent Hill-ish?
