What a crazy game.
Thank God for Tom Brady. Our defense is absolutely terrible though. We have so many blown coverages and missed assignments it's a wonder we only got 40 points dropped on us. This feels like 2011 and 2017 all over again.

Hey all, midterms are this week, so I'll be a bit late getting results up. Here's the schedule for next week to get everyone started.

We both know that you wouldn't congratulate me. You only posted to rub it in. Osweiler set a new career-high in passing yards in a game. No idea what the Panthers did to fall 17-0 behind. I'll forgive you if you respond by saying that the Giants are crap. |
Is it not common knowledge that the Giants are a dumpster fire?

RolStoppable said: Only watched the second half, but what a game. The Packers defense couldn't stop the run despite knowing that it would come when Beathard threw only about a dozen of passes through three quarters. Packers down by 7 inside the 49ers' 10 with a 4th down at around 8 minutes to go, and they go for it instead of kicking a FG. They fail. Still pissed about hurting my record for the week with two changes that backfired, but the Packers remain alive and well going into the bye week, then they'll have a tough stretch of five games with four of them on the road and Seattle is the easiest one of those games. Not to take anything away from the Seahawks, but the Rams, Patriots and Vikings are all better teams. Sandwiched inbetween is a home game against the Dolphins which is a must-win. EDIT: Checked the spreadsheet. If I counted correctly, burninmylight is the only one at 11-4 for the week and I am tied with a bunch of others at 10-5. Damn, I would have won the week with a 12-3 record with my initial picks and would have created some distance to the bulk. Why couldn't my internet be down on Sunday afternoon and block me from posting anything... of course it was down when the Sunday games were on in the evening. Of course. |
Not surprising the 49ers managed to throw the lead. I was surprised they had a lead at all. 49ers are like the Giants, bound for 4th in their division. Which is pretty intense considering this years Seahawks and Cardinals.

Last week we had lots of discussion because somebody said they wouldn't be terrible with a few adjustments, plus Eli is a decent QB because there's no way that OBJ is bailing him out with catch and runs. |
Granted I haven't watched every Giants game but of the ones I have it looks like the only good thing they have going for them is Saquon Barkley. OBJ is a walking circus, Eli isn't making plays when it counts, their offensive line is garbage and their defense is getting lit up every week. I wouldn't say just a "few" adjustments are needed.

I may have missed something somewhere, but I'm pretty sure you're at 9-6 for the week. Double checked your predictions and I think I've got everything right. Let me know if I missed something though.

Despite an initially scary slate of games, it was a pretty solid week overall for the league. The entire NFL conspired to stop me at every single toss up game possible with the exception of KC-NE, but that's the way life goes. burninmylight got into the thick of the race for the #1 spot with an 11-4 finish, while Carl...made his season slightly less embarrassing, at least. San Francisco kept things close against Green Bay, which resulted in both Rol and XD84 nabbing a perfect MNF prediction.

Besides burninmylight moving up to second, there wasn't a lot of movement in the standings. Rol retook first place, making this the fourth straight week with a different leader. The first five predictors are only, at most, two games out of first, and the top 10 is at most 5 games away, so this is still anyone's game (except mine because of the aforementioned NFL conspiracy).
As always, please look over your results and let me know if there are any mistakes.
League Manager Rant
I feel like fans, players, and especially the player's union have all been incredibly hypocritical when it comes to Le'Veon Bell's holdout (who, incidentally, did not follow through on his stated plan to return to the Steelers during the bye week). Basically everyone agreed that the current CBA that ended the 2011 lockout gives an incredibly unbalanced amount of power to the owners. Players and the NFLPA have consistently voiced frustration with how much power the owners and commissioner have, including the split of revenue, the commissioner's ability to suspend and uphold his own suspensions with no third party oversight, and post-career benefits and care plans for retired players. And yet, now that Bell is holding out against an owner who is taking up a still absurd portion of the revenue generated, players and even his own teammates have almost universally come out against him.
Bell is one of the few players who's been willing to tell the owners (or in this case, an owner) to shove it until they provide what he perceives as fair treatment. You can argue all you like about whether the prospect of a multi-millionaire fighting with a billionaire over fair compensation is legitimate, and Bell complaining about not getting enough money might sound like the world's tiniest violin. However, the bigger concern for me is the precedent it sets. If players and the players association won't back one of their own in a holdout like this, does anyone really think they're going to act any differently when it comes time to negotiate a new contract? If the players can't support each other, they'll fold just as easily as they did back in 2011, and we'll be left with another shitty CBA that results in players receiving stupid suspensions for questionable reasons and owners holding just as much power as before. Ies, I'll freely admit I'm biased in this as a Patriots' fan, but I think most teams would agree that the suspensions of someone like Vincent Jackson (suspended 3 games for driving without a license), Terrell Pryor (5 games for getting tattoos in college) or the myriad of players suspended for smoking pot.

You counted the amount of green/blue and red cells correctly, but your error is in the column for PIT@CIN which is all red, so everyone who picked the Steelers got snubbed. |
That'll certainly do it. I'll update the post when I get a chance.
