This is the biggest load of hyperbole I've seen for a while.

Backwards compatibility is one thing I forgot . This just ended my thread :/ |
Then ask a mod to lock it...
Proud to be a Californian.
Seems like a thread I would find on gamespot system wars.
GOWTLOZ said: Yeah no, Switch gamers don't really want every third party game, they clearly showed disinterest in most AAA ports like Doom and Wolfenstein 2. Xbox One X is the only console with RDR in 4K, and Far Cry 5 in 4K. Its the only console where you can play most PS3 era multiplatform games along with PS4 era multiplatform games, sometimes in their best console versions. It has Xbox Game Pass, an amazing value for money program. Of course Xbox One already has a host of games from 2013 to 2017 that haven't appeared on the Switch and never will. Xbox One will always be relevant, its the only console with Forza Horizon ;) |
I don't believe Switch getting third-party or frankly even first-party will impact Xbox/PS/PC and vice versa as well. I recall NPD Group's Mat Piscatella saying on a number of occasions on ResetERA that Switch is complimenting the Xbox One/PS4/PC as opposed to directly competing with them.
At the same time, I also don't think the Steep cancellation is really an indication of Switch third-party support in the future. Boutique publishers ranging from those that specialize in indie titles (Devolver Digital, Nicalis) to AAA titles (Bethesda) have shown an indication that Switch is a viable platform for them. In addition, while AAA game sales (outside of Skyrim) have been lower, Switch is doing well with indies, AAA sports titles, casual titles, AA action-adventure games, and Japanese titles (this is as per ZhugeEX on ResetEra).
Looking at the Steep situation in particular, I think the cancellation of that title had more to do with the fact that it is a full-priced always online game which doesn't really work in favour of a system where portability is a key point.
Is it bad that Xbox gamers want Zelda on their system? Is it bad that Sony gamers want Mario? The reverse of this question is just as silly as this is.
XBox is already irrelevant. Games that I do not want portability with I get on my PS4, I get PS4 exclusives on PS4, Nintendo exclusives on Switch, and 3rd party games I want portable on Switch.
XBox has no worthwhile exclusives in my eyes, and there is no reason for me to go with that version of third party games. It is literally a netflix machine in my living room...which might get traded soon for more games.
Because people like the on the go feature.
We are finally seeing Home Console games to be played whereever you want!
