Forums - Gaming Discussion - Villains and political correctness

I was always against those who complained about political correctness, however there was one thing that I said would make me change my mind: when people start demanding that villains have to be politically correct. I came across this during a discussion of the Octopath controversy. People were arguing that a game is sexist just for having sexist and even if they are villains and are portrayed to be wrong. I can totally understand why people would be upset with a hero being sexist, racist and whatever, but I think it's going too far when people start saying that even villains can't act this way. Just today I read somebody saying that Yakuza 0 is sexist because a villain kills a woman.

But they have no problem if a villain kills a man, is that sexist? by their logic it must be because gender makes no difference.

I think it's because there are certain people that think women are so fragile that they can't even hear  sexist comments in any context or experience any hurdles in their lives without falling apart, which is of course very sexist in itself. But that is just my theory

There was a person who said that men shouldn't write stories involving rape because men don't suffer from it as often as women. So then I replied saying that if you want to use that same logic women shouldn't be writing stories about war since men are usually the victims. They responded back to me disagreeing and believe that woman can write about war but men can't write about rape.

These SJW types of people are always saying that gender makes difference, that men and women should be treated identically but they don't practice what they preach. So even they don't believe in the the nonsense coming out of their own mouths.

It's this kind of crap that outs modern feminism (feminism of the past excluded) as "female supremacy".

I'm not aware of a controversy with octopath, and I'm not sure why you'd have to change your mind on anything.  With any particular view, you will find people who take it to an illogical extreme.  If you have to agree with everything anyone says on behalf of a concept to agree with the concept, you're going to have a hard time believing in anything.

This isn't about villains, it's about fantasy in general. There shouldn't be any restrictions of content in fictional works.
