Yeah they're going to ignore 81.2 million users...lol. Nice PR move though Bethesda

Implying those 81.2 million people only play ps4

Bethesda should be careful. Sony can retaliate by replicating Fallout and Elder Scrolls, take their market share and make it even better.

Yeah, just look at how superior PS All Stars Battle Royal is compared to Smash Wii U/3DS

Make this move with Fallout 76 and then I’ll think Bethesda means business. Because there’s no way Sony will capitulate for a card game when Fortnite didn’t cause Sony to budge. They’re really trying to make fetch happen.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

Both games aren’t great. One of them is hyped up mediocrity.

Bethesda has a PR move where they seem like they're pro consumer*

Same day, Bethesda Threatens to sue a man for selling his new and sealed game*

Great to you or not, doesn't change the fact one is definitely superior to the other

- "What really interests me about this take, is that it's apparently fine to ignore the hundred+ million PC gamers out there on multiple clients, as well as those that game on mobile"

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Are you implying that not allowing cross-play, an issue for a small, vocal minority of players, and does absolutely not deny players the right to play this game, although it comes with a caveat, a well known caveat, that consumers can choose to either buy into because they don't give a shit, or pass on because it's undesirable, is comparable to threatening to shut out an entire userbase entirely?

- "As far as things go as well, Sony is not the overlord of this industry"

Maybe not. But there's a strong argument to made that among the pantheon of gaming powers, Sony claims a seat at the head of the table. Regardless, the power they wield in this sphere is substantial. They don't need to be overlords to dictate their own policy, especially as it concerns rinky-dink mobile card games.

- "no publisher should bow to them and just let them set rules for everything"

That's exactly how this shit works. All the platform holders have rules in place that go well beyond this cross-play nonsense. Bethesda is free withhold their product as they see fit. And Sony is free to, and I can't stress this enough for this particular instance, not give a fuck.

Sorry, publishers gave in the past a lot of shit to Nintendo if they made insane rules and left games off of Nintendo platforms, and they usually were applauded by the gaming community for it. Nintendo often did not give a fuck, but look what that lead to. Same with Microsoft and their plan for family share and so on at the XB1-reveal. You really want that for Sony?

If you're referencing the worst behavior Nintendo has been guilty of in the past, various strongarm tactics they employed on third parties in the NES/SNES days, I don't think Sony not allowing cross-play with it's console competitors is going to have as much of a negative impact. The scale of the 2 situations is quite disparate. If that is indeed what you're talking about. And just to be clear, I do think it's bullshit that Sony won't allow account sharing to be integrated. I'm also not against cross-play per say, but can certainly understand why Sony wants no part of it as far as it concerns getting into bed with Microsoft. If cross play matters to Bethesda, perhaps they can up the ante, and die on the hills of Fallout 76 and Doom Eternal.

It makes more sense that Bethesda take this stance with Legends than with 76. Legends is a card game perfectly playable on smart phones and a game that is propped up via micro-transactions.

Cross-access is ideal for a free-to-play game and I imagine Bethesda doesn't want what happened to Fortnite players to also happen to their players.

Did they frame their Legends policy as such?

Interesting, this was trolling? Not the huffy comment about Sony should clone Bethesda soft to destroy them, but this reply? Hmm, interesting.

Oh, it can even be so simple stuff like missing voice chat or achievements on Nintendo. In my opinion it is extremely simple to add these features, but Nintendo is too stupidly stubborn to do that. And they get shit for that. And this is right. But Sony should get away with their shitty practice? If people say it does not matter much, that is true (just like voice chat and achievements). But even if it does not matter much for sales, it is not ever something that should be defended.
