Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Online LIVE, 20 NES and upcoming titles, Service FAQ, cloud save details, requirement depends on publisher

One of the many many things that we haven’t heard from Nintendo is how Cloud Saves actually work.

---

According to Diablo III associate producer Matt Cederquist, save files for games will automatically be uploaded to the cloud on a regular basis, so no user action is required. As to how often that happens, we do not know at this point of time.

Save data backed up in the cloud is transferable to other Nintendo Switch consoles, so you can continue playing on a friend’s console.

Cederquis has also shared a detail specific to Diablo III Eternal Collection. When save data from Diablo III goes to the cloud, the only thing that won’t upload is leaderboards. Achievements and campaign progress will be uploaded.

I hope you do have options on the frequency of uploads or if you can set it to manual.

They're going to be one of the first companies who asks people to sign up for a 12 month subscription to absolutely nothing.

I just mean in terms of information at least, would be like if Youtube was turning into a paid subscription service at the end of September, and there was no information available other than. "It's happening"

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Sounds rather crap TBH

There has to be an NSO Direct incoming soon-ish.

It's obvious: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8875462
Think someone made a thread about it too.

Still it's funny that third parties are giving more details of their service than them.

PS: Nintendo Online, shortens to NO... no wonder no new info is given xD

The low price seems kinda dumb. If they had put SNES and N64 games at the start (though I'm guessing those systems will eventually be added) so that this could be seen for sure as a VC successor, they could have easily charged $40 a year and probably brought even more people onboard.

This. I already have those NES games on my 3DS. N64 games however would be truly enticing. I'll probably join once I get Mario Party though. It would also be nice  to get Netflix on the device.

I love NES, so I'm OK with the NES games; but those ones are mostly garbage... in my very humble opinion.
* Super Mario Bros is a classic, and no matter what, and I love playing it due to it being the first video game to blow my mind.
* Super Mario Bros 3 is the only truly fantastic game of that bunch.
* Legend of Zelda is on there, but to be honest, I am one of the 14 people who loved Zelda
2, but found the first game to be a little bleh...
* Dr. Mario will be interesting with the online multiplayer.
* The other 6 are not worth talking about.

But NES has a lot of games that I still enjoy playing even today; unfrotunately, only SMB3 is represented. My requests would be games like:
* Dragon Warrior 1-4 (Dragon Quest)
* Duck Tales, FaXanadu
* Castlevania: Dracula's Curse
* Kirby's Adventure, Zelda 2
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1-3
* Captain Skyhawk, Battletoads
* RC Pro-Am 1-2
* Double Dragon 1-2
* Street Gangs (River City Ransom)
* Ninja Gaiden 1-2
* Metroid
* Contra
* Blaster Master
* Final Fantasy
* the Mega Man games

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

We'll see what they decide to do with the last 10 titles for launch, just a few more days for the ND.

In the meantime Nintendo has been updating their websites to reflect the cloud save details:

“The vast majority of Nintendo Switch games will support Save Data Cloud backup. However, in certain games this feature would make it possible to, for example, regain items that had been traded to other players, or revert to a higher online multiplayer ranking that had been lost. To ensure fair play, Save Data Cloud backup may not be enabled for such games. To ensure that Save Data Cloud backups cannot be used to unfairly affect online multiplayer rankings, the feature will not be enabled in Splatoon 2.”

If people don't remember, they did the same thing with the Wii. You could not copy any online game save data into the SD card.
Although I am not sure why they don't allow it in this case, since they are in total control of the cloud service... it should be hard to crack.

I can understand if save files that are 5GB big are not desirable on a cloud, but you are paying for that service.

So I'm paying for save back-ups which I can't even use on my single most important save file being over 1000 hours of Splatoon 2. Good shit!
