Forums - Gaming Discussion - Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII Beta thoughts?

So those that are playing the beta, what are your thoughts?

I'm fine with the gameplay but honestly the whole thing feels like a Black Ops 3 Light.

First the menus are really bad, the Specialist 'descriptions' is dark grey on black, you can hardly read it. The whole thing is dark in general, where is the colour from BO3? And you have to use a weird cursor instead of just pressing arrows for some reason.

The 'Specialists' just look like downgraded versions of the ones in BO3 in design and while intended, it takes from the fun Bo3 MP had. I like the idea that you have a killing ability and a utility in one but the charge rate is appallingly slow. I could only get 1 in a TDM and considering you can die as easily as usual, seems a bit much. You can't pick the specialist you want if someone already has it.

Healing is just an extra button to press, it seems kinda stupid, everyone has it all the time so considering in the last CoD you just hid to heal it's the same really. Grenades, flashbands, all that stuff is locked to higher levels... why? What's wrong with a grenade? SMGs are op.

Maps, too cluttered. Load times are weird, sometimes I spawn in and everyone has started, sometimes it's really quick. Waiting in a lobby is 90 seconds instead of 70 or 60... too long.

It's just not as fun as BO3. But much of that can be improved before release.

EDIT: Oh and there is this 'gear' which is basically sixth sense from BO3 on steriods. it will be nerfed.

This game definitely needs some changes and more Polish but I really love it. Has the potential to be the best CoD in years.

I agree. My thoughts are exactly the same. It is almost identical to BO3 but BO3 was a bit better.

Ok so I've put in roughly 26 hours into the beta since Friday reached level 40 and maxed about about 8-10 different guns. These are my final impressions
The gunplay is amazing and the longer TTK allows you to out skill you're opponents and it feels like an actual gunfight. But sometimes it does feel like you're opponent is getting you with 2 or 3 shots.
Spawns needs to be more consistent and not change so much
Fog of war needs to be changed because right now it makes stealth plays impossible.
Quickscoping is too OP.
Maps at first I really didn't like but after playing them more the maps are really solid. I hope they have more maps like Hacienda because that gave me some nice BO2 vibes.
The game also has some technical issues so I'm wondering how the Blackout mode will run.
But overall the game feels like Black Ops Ultimate. Has a higher TTK like BO1, gunplay and the botg action feels like BO2, game looks like Bo3, specialist system has been upgraded from Bo3, map design feels like a mash-up of all 3 black ops. With zombies mode having 4 maps and Blackout possibly being fun this game is day one for me. One of the best CoD in years.

:P some people are playing. I know the hype for this isn't as big as others but still.

Honestly, the second weekend convinced me this game isn't for me. While I like the traditional gameplay, I just feel it's BO2.8 in comparison to 3, guns aren't as unique or fun, specialists aren't as fun, especially as it takes SO long to get them. The sensor thing is a joke, the range on it is massive and people know you are coming all the time. It needs nerfing. It felt like it was lagging and the frame rate was low a lot of the time.

Oh... and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxBlaoNvfjg

If there is going to be this high time to kill, Snipers should never oneshot.

I haven't played it but I've watched quite a bit. It actually looks good. Impressed with the increased time to kill. A stray bullet to the foot won't actually kill you this cod. I want to know more about the blackout mode but.... This could actually be the first cod I've bought this generation.

What if it's a headshot? That should be a one hit kill imo. Agree if it hits anywhere else on your body.

Sure... but you know, not this: https://youtu.be/_xcvcj2Td-A?t=3m10s

One of them was a single shot against an armoured enemy, if armour can't help you...

Hmm, pie.

I played 2 matches on PC so maybe not best to get any accurate information but, it felt very bland.
And now its on Battle.net so I mean the series was already dead on PC since MW3 this is just going to kill it even faster.
It felt like another year another CoD this time with healthbars for whatever reason.
