Forums - Sony Discussion - God of War is the "fastest selling" Exclusive in PS History According to NPD

i think santa monica studio will be happy to hear this...

he monthly NPD reports for June came out yesterday and once again, Sony’s God of War found its way near the top of the software sales chart finishing in second only behind Mario Tennis Aces.

We’ve known for quite some time that God of War was selling quite well for Sony as the publisher confirmed mere days after release earlier this year that Kratos’ return was the fastest-selling exclusive for PS4. In light of new information though, it now seems that God of War’s impressive sales could be more historic for PlayStation as a whole.

Its digital sales revenue was pretty good too.

Aparently 1st month sales digitally:
God of War = $131M
Witcher 3 = $69M
Uncharted 4 = $56M

https://wccftech.com/ps4-god-of-war-131m-digital-revenue/

Uncharted 4 almost managed to sell 9 million units in a single year and Horizon did close to 7.75million in its first year. Could God of War sell more than 10 million units before March the 31st 2019?

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Does it mean that the developers including Sony have earned 131 million dollars (thanks digital sales figures) ?

Record after record this gen.

Sony exclusives never had huge sales in USA in their first months, most of them even lifetime, so it wasn't something really relevant.....until now. God of war beat The Last of Us by selling near 2m in its first NPD month, but it will be probably beaten by Spider-Man in September, and this will be probably beaten by The Last of Us Part II when it launches in 2019 too. I wonder what number of sales will need the inevitable God of War II to beat the record then....

Sony is becoming as dominant as Ubisoft, EA or Nintendo (in sales) with their own games. Gran Turismo, Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, Spider-Man are becoming 10m sellers each, and games like Days Gone or Ghosts of Tsushima have potential too. Sony is positioning itself phenomally to end this gen and create hype for the next one.

This is incredibly true. Sony has positioned themselves to have a breadth of exclusives coming in time for the transition of PS5. Cross-gen gaming will keep the appetite going for Sony's install base. If the make Death Stranding and The Last of Us part 2 playable on both PS4 and PS5 and provide patches to upgrade God of War war, Spider-Man, and Days Gone to be upgraded to play on PS5 then Sony will resume competition within itself. Other key factors include if Sony decides on A new handheld or PSVR-2 or combination to be as versatile at the Nintendo Switch. And lastly not that it is need but if Sony were to announce PS5 would support Crossplay at launch and then unlock it at the same time for PS4, they also win again. Also before this year is up, the ability to change Network ID names. I'm cool with mine but it's an on going demand for others.

Wasnt this already announced shortly after launch? Regardless, thats awesome and well deserved.

Looks like God of War is going to be bigger than i expected

Gamers don't want linear games as much as they used to.
