Which is better?

Octopath Traveler 14 32.56%

Xenoblade 2 29 67.44%

Total:43

Of the Switch's 2 high profile exclusive JRPGs, which do you think is better, and why?

That's really difficult. Both are great in their own ways. Gotta think some more on this.

I havent finished Octopath yet, but from what i have played so far, XC 2 is a bit better, mostly because the story is better and better structured.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Until now haven't finished XC2 but I am at the final battle at 80hrs and that game I played non-stop up to that point , with OT I've only played around 23hrs I'm at the last 2 for Chapter 2 but stopped cause I kept buying new games on PS4 but couldn't even finish those too as I have rl things to do too, but anyways, overall I'm liking XC2 better but not saying OT is not fun because it is, it just released at the wrong time for me.

Edit: I liked XC2 better because it has a unique take on battle system and the beautiful vistas and story is just right by me, while OT's pixelated but beautiful art style is appealing to me, the story is just a bit of a cliche imo and there's a little to heavy grind to be done compared to XC2.

This is a perfect comparison because Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has exactly what Octopath lacks - great character chemistry. Even the blades with optional sidequests interact with the main party better than the main cast of Octopath Traveler interacts amongst themselves. That’s not to say that I don’t think Octopath Traveler isn’t a great game (currently 20+ hours in and can’t put it down), but XC2’s story and cast were magical and glossed over any flaws from poor controls, bad camera angles and bad pacing (I.e. throwing you in an open world area filled with level 10-92 monsters in the second chapter).

Actually forgot about those too, the interactions between characters, didn't quite like that on OT's.

Don't think either is really good, but at least I finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so that is my choice.

Both are fantastic, and I am currently loving Octopath. However Xenoblade 2 definitely had a stronger hold on me.

I love both games but I give the nod to XC2. Better story, better characters, better visually. Love the battle systems on both equally and both worlds beg to be explored. Im happy to own both and even happier that both are exclusive to the Switch. Imo they are the reason that the Switch is the rpg king.

Games are fun.

Can't say yet. Just started playing Octopath Traveler.
