How many PS3s were sold at $100.00 or less off its initial MSRP? From what I understand the bulk of its sales were after massive price drops which the PS4 hasn't had up till yet.

Those massive price cuts were to get it into the price range that PS4 is currently in.

At this point in PS3 life it was 29,980 yen vs PS4 at 34,980 yen, not a massive difference.

The massive difference comes when you're adding the PS4 pro at just under 50k yen, almost 20k more expensive than the PS3.

Switch hardware sales staying steady at a baseline in the high 40 thousands. Splatoon 2 will hit 2.5 million at retail in Japan next week, also did Switch have two Mega Man skus?

The big releases in Japan this time last year are starting to take their toll, confident Switch will manage to make it out up year over year in time for it's big holiday line-up.

Only needs to average 40k/week to remain up going into the last 10 weeks of the year, should do that quite easily.

How much does the Switch need to remain up with 6-8 weeks left?

The massive difference comes when you're adding the PS4 pro at just under 50k yen, practically double that of the PS3.

Pro is a premium model for the small number of people in Japan who care about 4k gaming just like there were more expensive premuim skus of PS3 with more storage for the small amount of people in Japan who cared about going full digital back then.

The price to get into the the PS4 ecosystem is only slightly higher than it was to get into the PS3 ecosystem at a similar point in their life cycles.

It needs to average 50.1k until week 45 to remain up YoY.

Pokemon releases week 46 and Smash releases week 49.

Week 46 without any releases was 87k and week 49 165k. So it will be interesting what Switch will hit with releases, 200k+ to 300k.

How much longer until the Switch outsells the PS4 in Japan?

Well Switch domination as usual.

The MonHun bundle had no effect. No doubt Capcom is disappointed. Speaking of Capcom. Looks like their sabotage of Megaman on Switch has worked.

I think some time next year. Either Q1 or Q2.

Severely understocked. Reports are that the game is still not available at most stores in Japan.
