Forums - Sales Discussion - Q1 Software: PS4: 40.6M*; 43% digital (17.46M)... NSW: 17.96M**

Almost 1 to 1 in terms of Sony's digital game sales to the Switch's overall software total for the quarter.

Just shows how important digital is becoming, especially when looking at NPD and weekly charts from Europe/Japan.

*Sony mentions that free to play games are not included in the number

**Nintendo mentions that download only games are not included

Both had healthy numbers on SW for the quarter.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Almost every download only índie game is reporting higher sales on switch than in other platforms.
I would like to see the the numbers counting them.

I think PS4 having an install base ~4x higher than Switch might factor into why PS4 sold ~2.5x as much software this quarter.

Wait so Indie game are not included?
And yeah its 80mil vs 20mil userbase.

would love to see sales of software sales on ps4 when the user base was 20 million Q1, i'll take a guess and say it beats switch by a good margin.

Wouldn't the Nintendo data be mislead due a huge chunk missing between the two comparisons.

Also Playstation 4 total software sales number is 737.6m+ sold.

The closest thing i can find is sell-through at the end of 2014, hardware was 18.5m and software was 81.8m.

Thats quite similar to Switch shipments at the moment with hardware 19.67m and software 86.93m.
