Beat it on challenge, not hard at all, but...
"That Queen"... yup, that queen sure is hard.

I'll say you are a lot better player than me then =] it was quite more challenging than all the previous God modes of God of War prior.

And I know you haven't said it, but on the other thread someone said that combat is much more deep than other games because there is a lot of combos and whatnot that you need to clear on the higher difficulties... I basically cleared it with roll, parry and axe throw+arrows so not a lot of different skills and combos used (even more because most enemies will kill you while you are doing a big combo. The most I would do when getting the H&S weapon was 3 hit combos).

I also think kratos got weaker...  I mean, he got a hard time whit Baldur, one of the weakest Norse gods, after beating  the great 3 (Poseidon,Hades, zeus). Perhaps his power comes from his anger, he got lot's of problema whit greek gods and reasons to hate than, and not so much for Norse gods

I don't have a problem with how hard or weak he seemed against the Norse gods, because boss battles being challenging is ok (I'm looking at you final special boss). My grieve was at how much weaker Kratos was compared to the average mob. Only at end game with level 8 I was like being able to kill a level 5 mob (level 1 wouldn't show anymore) with like 3-5 hits and taking 10 for me to die (sure could still be killed with 1-3 from level 8 mob).

Just to be clear, i played the game on "give me challege" and not "give me god of war". I tried god mode and i just gave up on the first minutes.

About kratos power "vs mobs". Yeah, i agree, kratos normal attacks are kinda weak! Mobs are just too damn tough, you realy need to use runic attacks ,stun than "R3", Executes whit axe and "Boy" or the games becomes hell! Damn 70-100 cooldown is a must, and Runic is much better than strength.

Properly utilizing Atreus' bow for stuns, as well as switching to unarmed to build up stuns is really essential. Get your timing down for parries and actually take your time with encounters instead of rushing in. Use your range as an advantage. Make full use of skills and talismans.

It's not really *that* difficult.

Have you killed the final queen on give me god of war?

Play it on level 1 gear with bow and unarmed to see how crushing it gets after some 20-30h.

Owww sorry, misread you.

I bet give me challenge is plenty difficult, perhaps will replay the game on it to see. But man as you saw, God mode is like I said obnoxiously hard =p

The Queen... 17 life bars if I'm not wrong, each of them take 3 runics or like 10 combos to go down... 30 min fight... and even on level 8 she will kill you with 2 or 3 hits depending on the skill she is using. So even going with berserk stone, full rage and the skill to suck out energy (which you need to be very good player to get) you would have something like 3-5 full life depending on how you use them, so it is like 170 hits to kill the Queen against being hit no more than 15 times in 30 min of fight on a enemy that have over 25 different attacks, not all of them fast to recognize and react.

1st playtrough on hard or as the game calls it give me a challenge.
Second playtrough will be on give me God of war I like my games to be difficult.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I played on Easy, lol. Beat everything with ease except the final Valkyrie, it's pretty much not possible to beat her unless you grind to get the Niflheim armor set fully upgraded, and I didn't feel like grinding in that boring maze for a few hours.

I think with a little training you could get the Queen without the full set. But yes you don't get much new doing it.

At least you had the good judgement of doing it only on the second play =p

I played on Normal. I found that to be challenging enough that I didn't just automatically win every fight, but easy enough that there were no multi-hour, frustration-filled fights - except the Valkyrie Queen. She was still incredibly difficult for me on Normal mode. I did eventually beat her though. I can't imagine that battle on the hardest difficulty setting.

I played it on hard, and it was pretty challenging but it never felt impossible. Every new fight or attempt got me closer and closer to victory. the story bosses were fairly easy but the Valkyries were pure ass, specially cause I was underlevel for a few of them. Super enjoyable and taking out the Valkyrie queen was such a great feeling.

Yeah, I did come close once or twice wearing a partially upgraded Niflheim set (one time I had her health below 5% when I died so I was pretty pissed), but it's definitely hard since you're under her level unless you fully upgrade the set to reach the same level as her. The main problem with that boss is that all of her attacks are randomized, if there was a set order for her attacks it would be so much easier because you'd have more time to react and either block, dodge, or hit her with a ranged attack while she is charging depending on what attack she is using. One of the hardest bosses in any game I've played.

Well.

Except the one that you have to turn your back to not get blinded you have enough time to either think about throwing your axe (for the other flying undodgeable and unblockeable attack) or quick parry, the other ones you have the yellow or red circle to know what type and minimize the type of attacks.

With time you would get quicker to react, but yes it is to much repetition to get they down and be able to kill her without going all the way on nilf (what was the level you level when you were trying to take her on?)

For me that is the best  balance, you feel challenged on a level you know you are capable of passing with some try.

I can't tell how much cramps Give me God of War gave me due to the throw axe and arrow combination spammed over 8h gaming for a whole week =p

Man I was so frustrated with how much I had to give to finish the story that after a few hours grind of nilfheim I was lvl 7 or 8... No valkyrie except the Queen took more than 30 min of trial to get even on the give me god of war. Perhaps on the hard you played more balanced than me that got severely under leveled for over half of the game and had to sweat to get last boss. So since you said it was challenging but not impossible on the story perhaps the difficult gap to get the valkyries was quite high.

I started on Hard, and it stayed there till I finished the game.

And no souls game gave me the kinda grief this game gave me. It didn't help that I was well int the game before I fully understood the depth of the upgrade system. But when mastered all that did was just change the game from a one hit kill on every tough enemy to a two or if you are lucky 3 hit kill game.

Those blasted valkyries though, and those trials and that gas maze place....... still have nightmares of all that.

Her attacks were randomized..... but they pretty much all had counters or moves you could do to stop them. The issue with playing it that way though is that you really can't afford to get it wrong or miss your window. So you either preempt or run.
