How do you know the budgets?

The topic was not asking if it matters or not. It's about what AAA is.

The topic is do console makers games count as triple A. That would mean that by default PC games are triple A. So by your criteria, it would clearly be a false start for the conversation, hence why the conversation automatically revolves around quality of games IE: Are the games good or not. Let's not pretend it's about something else.

Where did you get that PC gamers are AAA by default? I have seem no indication of this on the thread before you talked. PC isn't even part of discussion since it asks about console makers games.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Look at the thread topic title and do your own math.

Let me rephrase that: Most of them LOOK like they have indie level budgets.

I'm not sure what's being spent on them of course, and if Nintendo is spending a lot on them it's either going into marketing rather than development or they have incompetent devs.

I done my math.

It doesn't talk about PC.

It is more like if the games developed BY Sony, Nintendo or MS count as AAA or are only the 3rd party games that count. You are probably the only one that read that tile with anything to do with PC.

In credit rating Triple A represents the highest level in terms of safety/security of the investment. In other words Triple A has least risk. If we use this as the basis for triple A definition in gaming, I would say that exclusive games are all triple A as there is very small risk that they are worthless.

Thats a silly question, like asking if Sony can make a blockbuster movie because thay make TV's. What does selling consoles have to do.with the budget off a game?

The only relation I can see is that Sony (and I would say only them) are willing to make investment of AAA grade on games they don't expect very high sales and may lose money (as Shu Yoshida put only 4 in 10 profit and like only 2 really bring the big numbers) just to create a good and diverse environment to have also 3rd parties releasing on PS.
