Forums - Gaming Discussion - Water in video games

I can't think of a single instance where interacting with water (aka underwater or swimming gameplay) was better than regular play. Not a single time.

Well, there's more to water from a gameplay perspective than just swimming in it. In Bioshock for example you could use it to electrocute baddies by zapping the pool they were standing in.

Yeah, for its times Morrowind water was very good. With patches it's still quite good even today. Other parts of that game, like NPCs (if scantily clad and/or with their faces visible) and creatures aged far worse.

Part II is now live, looking at games on the Gamecube, Original Xbox, and beyond, including Mario Sunshine, Wave Race Blue Storm, Starfox Adventures, Half-Life 2, Morrowind, and Halo 3.

Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy has probably one of the best:

Assassin's Creed Origins has some great water as well:

Those are some pretty water, and good level with the feel of swimming.

Yeah I never played that one so this video was my first proper look at it. Very impressive stuff for the time, Gamecube really was a beast.
