The Advanced Gungeons and Draguns update is supposed to make the game a little less RNG when it comes to whether or not you get good items during a run. Basically if you've gotten crappy items from chests/bosses the game is programmed to give you high chances of getting something good on your next chest unlock. This way you don't wind up playing perfectly, only to get a water gun, an item you can't hold onto, and no health items.
