Thankfully not many of those here on VGChartz. It'd be even more of a nuisance than Nintendo fans if they were to create a thread every time some multiplatform and/or indie title had sales reveal it sold best on PS4.

Sony fans at least seem intelligent enough to keep the info in a relevant general sales thread, as ryuzaki did with JP Shining Resonance info.

Posting dumber sales fact and comparison is not gonna make anyone intelligent.

It's way more intelligent than creating its own thread. I guarantee if the numbers were reversed there'd be a thread about how Shining Resonance sold 8x more or whatev er on Switch in Japan. Posting Japanese sales data in the Japanese sales thread is where it belongs, obvious trolling notwithstanding.

Context matter.

Late port selling better than the original release on smaller install base is a good accomplishment and not the other way around.  Ryuzaki post is dumber because of the context and narrative behind his reasoning is a joke at best.

Now that Dengeki is up, the moment you were all waiting for : market share data!!

Shining Resonance (PS3) 93106 (75%)

Shining Resonance Refrain (PS4) 27623 (22%)

Shining Resonance Refrain (NS) 3756 (3%)

I'm puzzled about Octopath's outstanding success. Look at the following pictures

Switch owners had the choice between an old-looking RPG and a modern RPG with waifus, modern graphics & animation, and they massively picked the one with weak graphics. I believe that can send a wrong message to 3rd parties : now SquareEnix or anyone can make a PSOne-looking RPG, slap exclusive + nostalgia on it and say "hey, Switch fans, this is just for you". Result being that Switch would get less and less high-end games and more old-school ones with low production values.

Is this post for real? It can't be.

How many times have you and others talked about how 3rd parties dont sell on Nintendo platforms? You dont think that has something to do with people making threads everytime a 3rd party title does well?

Real talk: When I say third party multiplatform titles don't do all that great on the Switch I am not referring to titles like Monster Boy or Fox n Forest or even Just Dance for that matter. So no matter how many times an indie platformer or party game does well on Switch it does nothing to cause me to pause and rethink my opinion.

So something like this

"3rd parties dont sell on Nintendo consoles"

"Various threads show 3rd party games selling well"

"Ya well indie games, Japanese games, kid/family games, retro games, free-to-play games, late ports/remasters dont count"

Which late port/remaster are you referring to? Because that's usually the excuse I see for poor Switch sales. Yet Shining Resonance Refrain was a late port/remaster and had no issue at least breaking 20k in Japan on PS4. And I mean, free-to-play should be obvious. I don't give any points if all a consumer has to do is hit a download button. But otherwise yes. If you are happy with the Switch not breaking out of the kid/party/family/indie sphere of games in terms of third party multiplatform sales then I guess you can stay content cause there will be a lot more of that on the way. Just don't be mad when something that isn't kid/party/family/indie doesn't get ported over.

Minecraft, Skyrim, LA Noire, Crash, Resident Evil, Xenoverse 2, Disgaea 5, etc.

Yes it was a port on PS4, its a port of a port on Switch. Typically the sales potential of a game becomes less each time it gets ported, that is normal/expected.

Switch has and is getting plenty of non-kid/party/family games so your point is moot.

Like people already stated, it's very interesting when some 3rd party port sold good or best on Switch when we know that Switch has lowest install base on market and people generally didn't expect that any 3rd party games sell good at all on Nintendo platform. On other hand, PS4 has buy far biggest install base and 3rd party games generally are selling great on PS platforms, so it's totally expected that multiplatform games selling great and best on PS4, and actually if some game sold better Switch we talking about a surprise and quite accomplishment and there is nothing wrong is someone think that's thread worthy.
