New Digimon game for console finally revealed;

Digimon Survive, a survival SRPG that combines 2D & 3D with lots of genres coming to PS4 & Switch in 2019. It’s been a significant amount of time since the last Digimon game on a Nintendo platform. But with Bandai Namco announcing the next entry in the series, the franchise is finally making a return.

Digimon Survive has been announced for Switch and PlayStation 4. Here’s what we know:

– Survival SRPG
– Combines 2D and 3D with lots of genres
– Conversations have 2D images, also have choices that will change story or even evolutions
– Seems like click&point-style field investigations
– Battles are strategy-style with square grids, has Energy as key factor
– Protag is 8th grader with Agumon as partner

Digimon Survive will launch for Switch and PS4 in Japan next year.

Like the sound of Digimon in a strategy game environment, hope we get to see something soon.

I actually just bought Cyber Sleuth on PS4 and started re-watching the old anime. Gonna be somewhat miffed if I find out it's getting ported to Switch, but I'd still like to see all the recent games on the system.

Nice! Hopefully NamcoBandai brings more Digimon games to the Switch. I still want that Digimon Adventure game for the PSP...

Makes me think of battle royale style games which would suck. SRPG puts me off too, those are usually pretty dull to me.

Although if there is typically a time when the next titles are announced for the series thats past maybe that is what they meant. Idk.

Joking, just joking. I can't take a game with the name Survive seriously, now. XD

First Digimon Survive Scan

It looks like it's combining visual novel with turn based tactics. I'd be interested if it was the compete opposite but the scans make it look like it's the a mixture of the two, so I'll likely pass.

Wake me when it's a JRPG with real time combat and zero point and click/2D novel style.
