Forums - Sales Discussion - Opinion: Nintendo need a SWITCH+ MODEL ASAP!

Does switch need a plus version?

Yes 17 26.56%

No 40 62.50%

Keep it the way it is 7 10.94%

Total:64

of all the pictures to use in the OP you choose the absolutely beautiful looking Mario Odyssey, why not at least put in some really dodgy image of Doom at its lowest res or Wolfenstein 2 near some missing water effects.

That picture in the OP alone shoots your own argument in the foot.

That said... from the current state the switch is at from a modding point of view, it is likely we get a hardware revision in the not too distant future, also when it comes to Nintendo handheld hardware there literally hasn't been a handheld they've made where they haven't had a upgraded version of it, so to say that there wont be a "New" Switch 3DSiXL colour Pocket SP Lite edition at some point in the future is lining yourself up for a "I told you so" post.

Currently I'm not sure Nintendo can stock enough consoles for the holidays. Should they really introduce a new model now? Later in the lifecycle... sure. I bet Nintendo does that. But not this year and probably not next year.

And for the comparison to the ipad or whatever: does it play Mario? Zelda? Smash? Pokemon? The comparison is instantly moot.

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

No one would buy a 500$ switch.
I believe they gonna do this someday. But they don't need it ASAP.

Id bet 2020 or 2021 a 1080p switch where handheld games run in dock configuration, for no more than 300$
And a own handheld, sucessor of 3ds, that run switch games on hh configuration, for no more than 200$.
But we still do not have technology for that at this price.

Switch+ with whats listed in the OP. No thanks. No way that would be feasible

It is pointless to do this because a switch plus would not be a significant jump without external boost.

The console was another stop gap between what it shoudl have been from day 1..

The external gpu supplementary units is were Nintendo is heading.

Switch 2 will hopefully have that assuming ports are fast enough to handle that speed of data transfer for enhanced gfx.

At one point you compared a phone that costs north of $1,000 to the Switch...

They'll obviously need a refresh, but you can't just rush that sort of thing. A year or two from now it will be far more economical and realistic to upgrade without killing wallets or battery life, and it will likely conveniently coincide with the release of next-gen consoles. They're still selling great without either the coming pokemon/smash games or future full-fledged pokemon game releasing yet, which will essentially guarantee strong sales...

To make people feel as if they've purchased an outdated system a mere two years after it released and at exorbitant, unnecessary cost while likely killing the portability factor of it would be the height of foolishness.

switch graphics aka WII U level visuals

Switch graphics are not Wii U level.

I don’t think I have ever even looked at the switch screen... I leave it in its dock.

I could take or leave the graphics talk, but I would jump at a grip for the handheld like that picture in the OP. I have one for my 3DS and it feels so much more comfortable. I mostly play docked on the Switch, but whenever I take it out I feel like my fingers cramp up after an hour or so.

More on-topic, I think it's more likely we'll get dockless Switches first, which would be more appealing to the Japanese market for sure. Actually that might already be a thing, it sounds kinda familiar.
