Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Prediction: Animal Crossing for Switch won't release before 2020

As much as I hate to admit it, it's somewhat likely 2020 is going to be a reality. I'm still holding hope for a Summer 2019 release (I really doubt it will come out this holiday, since it's still unannounced), but late 2019 or the first half of 2020 are likely too. I don't get why they are making us wait so long. Animal Crossing is going to make them a lot of money. Maybe they're saving it for a year or portion of a year with not much to offer.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

That they're making us wait 7-8 years better mean the game is uber amazing. If it's another City Folk, there will be bloodshed!

I am actually thinking the game will be announced in E3 2019. It might not be released due to Nintendo having another big title but we should hear about it next year. The prediction is a sound one. The chances if it being right is probably 50/50.

The Splatoon team is mostly done by now so Animal Crossing it probably being fast-tracked.

Welp, looks like I was wrong, even though the lack of gameplay leaves the possibility for a dealy open

I do hope the lack of gameplay is just because they don't wanna take away any focus from Smash this year's SMASH games, because a spring/summer release window would be perfect for Animal Crossing. Leave the holiday for stuff like Pokémon and Metroid.

Pokémon is a guaranteed for Fall/Holiday season but I think Metroid would benefit from releasing earlier in the year, perhaps the summer might be more fitting, that being said it might be Summer 2020...

Animal Crossing while thematically fitting for Spring I could see releasing anywhere from February to September without losing any momentum to other games, it just needs to skip those last months of the year to get the attention it deserves.

I’m thinking they want to do what they’re doing this year and have their two biggest titles releasing close two each other in the holiday season.

If there is a possibilities for delay they wouldn't announcing it now and stated 2019. like release date, also with all that on mind this could easily be release for first half of 2019. Talking about lack of gameplay, the simple didn't wanted to show anything yet.
