Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fortnite on Switch gets gyro aiming

Gyro aiming is such a game changer in BOTW, too. Great addition.

Now the best version of the game hands down.

You think better than the PC version even?

PC version is its own thing.  It can always be the best and if your PC is a potato, then the PC version could be the worst.  It is always subjective to the rig and seeing how by default it can always be the best with a gaming rig, it is usually not factored into comparisons.

Your comment comes off as someone being butthurt that Nintendo got the feature, a PC gamer who has nothing better to do than try to downplay the other systems available for gaming, or someone teying to simply stir the pot.  I would say nice try, but when a comment about PC in a console discussion shows it, it becomes obvious that the person has nothing constructive to add to the topic.

gyro aiming actually makes controlling shooters on a console much better. i still have no reason to use the Switch version over the PC version but this is a nice addition

I dont play enough Fortnite to know what this is/does.

Nice! The more shooters get this, the better. I really want gyro to establish itself as a standart. As soon as you've tried it you can't go back.
(Or, alternatively, if you're very profficient with twin sticks, you might hate it because it's so precise and requires a steady hand. A lot of my friends find gyro too jittery. XD)

I guess you do not play any shooters on the Switch then, as most of them have it.  Fortnite itself have nothing to do with it.

Basically you can use the motion controls in the Switch controller to aim quicker and more precise.  Use the joystick to aim as you would, and fine tune your shot with gyro aiming.

While keyboard and mouse will always be the most accurate, for consoles gyro aiming is the next best thing.  Much quicker and more accurate if you know how to use the feature.

I think you're reading way too much into his post, and there's no need to say he comes off as being butthurt. I could easily have asked the same question in the sense that, how does gyro aim make it the best version of the game when on PC you can run at higher resolution and, more notably; framerate which greatly helps with controls and accuracy. Sure, having gyro is nice, but all things considered, on a PC that can run the game as I've mentioned, I wouldn't say Switch is the best version. Best control scheme? Maybe, depends how responsive it is and how fast it lets you move and rotate for your builds, since they're important in the game, but as someone who isn't really a fan of the gyro aims, at least not in Breath of the Wild which is the only game I've played on Switch that has it, lol... I still don't think the inclusion of said feature makes it the best platform to play it on.

Let me put a TL;DR

What I'm saying is that, for someone like me, the inclusion of gyro aim doesn't make the Switch version the better version simply because I'm not a fan of gyro aiming, and for competitive shooters I prefer more responsive controls in the form of higher framerates... also I just prefer using mouse and keyboard when it comes to shooters, only used gyro aim in one game and wasn't a fan of it, lol.

Ok fair enough on your point with gyro aiming.  I just feel like when PC is brought into the discussion, it comes off as pointless and a meaningless jab as everyone knows PC will usually have the best experience bar none.  It seems to me like it is only ever brought up like this when someone is trying to downplay something else and they cannot think of anything else to say.

Can I use it with a Pro Controller? How do I turn it on?

Fantastic news! I have played the Splatoons for 1000+hours and i simply can't aim with sticks only anymore. Maybe i can actually hit something now in FN lol :).

Gyro should be the standard in any shooter type games from now on, done right and it really feels great, you can just snap your reticle onto enemies.

Stick only aiming simply feels archaic imo.

It always surprises me how much people keep praising this feature, yet shooters were left to die on the Wii when this was the norm. Sure you had some die hards using these controls all the time on Goldeneye Wii, but many did just as well with classic controls. Now whenever we see gyro controls people praise it. Yet Nintendo knows the general public does not like it. See Star Fox Zero for evidence.

However, there's a difference between gyro aiming on the switch and the use of a wiimote in shooters. The wiimote was basically point and shoot, but the pointing was not that precise in the first place. the gyro aiming on the switch still use the sticks but use gyro for fine tuning your aim.

also it wasnt gyro aiming that killed starfox zero, star fox zero forced you to control your ship by looking at your tv screen and shoot while looking into your controller. and that was a mess for most people. if they had use gyro aiming but that your aiming was at the same screen that your ship was, it would have been much much better...
