Vita won the race of the handicapped! It sure showed the Wii U!

I'm sad though, cause i love both the Vita and the Wii U and i'm sad they performed so badly.

Yeah, both got good games, although being not very popular.

what ever you do, don't splash out and get a 64gb version like I did... they're even more temperamental and it seems if the system is moved (helpful for a portable device) my vita wants to rebuild the database of the card 2-3 times and threaten to end it all each time I want to use it.

The Vita is a great machine... but my God was it handled poorly for all the potential it had to be another 80million seller like the psp was.

That said... the vita was sacrificed to make the ps4 what it is today really... so it's a double edged sword the death of the Vita.

Indeed. Due to the issues I had with my 32gb cards, I became aware of the 64gb card's reputation while troubleshooting online. I appreciate the heads up all the same.

I had a 16gb card which of course was perfect, I figured when paying over 100e for 64gb how could they possibly mess it up....

So so annoyed with the quality of it for the price

I was one from people that thought that Wii U will beat Vita at end, but of course I thought Nintendo will keep supporting Wii U longer and that we will have Wii U successor later, instead Wii U was discounted only around 5 years after arrived on market.

In any case, 16m for Vita was very long ride (6.5 years) and question is if Vita will hit 17m.

I bought the OLED ver long time ago and the only games i played on it were Minecraft, Dragons Crown and Gravity. They all sucked mostly. Are there any really good games for this thing?
I would be so happy if it has a way to play NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn and other 90s stuff on different systems.

Do you think the Wii u has sold more?

To the others saying Sony should have supported it more I disagree. Full Sony support including them pushing for better 3rd party support and a cheaper vita slim could probably have pushed 30m sales max. Not worth it when they could put that all into ps4 to help it dominate a much more lucrative market for them.

30m is double as much, that is not worthwhile? And brands need consideration. With the PS3 Sony built with hard sweat the image, that even if they start off on the wrong foot they are supporting their machine no matter what. And that brand image is extremely valuable, as is reinforces early adopters, so you get good launch numbers and start off with a good momentum. If your brand image includes, that you abandon ship, if things go unfortunately, customers may be more reluctant and implement a wait and see stance. Insofar the missing support is damaging the brand image for Playstation Sony built with the great support of the PS3. Overall this may be only cracks, but these open the way to shatter the brand image in the next misstep. So sorry, it is valuable for a company even supporting a failing product.

OK so ps5 doomed because of vita? 30m was best case scenario. Very generous estimate. Sony were much better off because it ensured ps4 absolutely dominated and continues to dominate the traditional console market. The revenue ps4 pulls in speaks for itself. Excellent decision.

Well its shocking vita sold more considering Sony abandoned it so soon yet the Wii u got some big franchises from Nintendo. Splatoon, Mario, smash, Mario kart etc. It just shows this software alone isn't enough for Nintendo to move a traditional home console anymore. It either needs to be portable or have something like the motion controls that shot the Wii to stardom.

Not relly shocking at all, Wii U was considered for fail in its first year, didn't had one single price cut through hole its life span, and was discounted only around 5 years after arrived on market. Wii U had some big games but they all come on system when was too late and was Wii U widely accepted like failed console without future, and big games later couldnt changed that point. You can bet that if Wii U on launch or in its first year had games like Splatoon, Mario Maker and MK8, Wii U sales number wouldnt be so bad, I mean thats reason why Nintendo prepared Zelda BotW, MK8, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey for Switch 1st 10 months on market compared to Wii U, they know thats one of biggest resons why Wii U failed so bad.

All it's big games came late? Revisionist history at it's best.

Wii U launched in 2012 and had practically no big exclusives until 2014. May seem like a normal waiting period to you, but Nintendo can't rely on Fifa and Call of Duty to sell their systems.

Good result considering how little Sony loved it: 3rd party devs and gamers almost alone kept it alive.

Nothing revisionist about that, those are facts. First big Wii U game that could be considered for system seller game for Nintendo hardware was Super Mario 3D World that come to Wii U tehnicaly at start of Wii U second year on market when Wii U widley was already considered for failure on market, MK8 arived 1.5 years after launch, Smash Bros. 2 years after Wii U launch...so like I wrote, you can bet that if Wii U on launch or in its first year had games like Splatoon, Mario Maker and MK8, Wii U sales number wouldnt be so bad, I mean thats reason why Nintendo prepared Zelda BotW, MK8, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey for Switch 1st 10 months on market compared to Wii U, they know thats one of biggest resons why Wii U failed so bad.
