Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita hits 16m sales!

Sony shot themselves in the foot by not using Micro SD. Who in their right mind would buy 64 GBs for $120 these days? Even now, their 64 GB cards are still $100. I can buy a 256 Gb Micro SD for cheaper. Coupled in the fact that they abandoned it after the PS4 was launched, it was made to fail at start.

lmfao!

Congrats I guess in case VGC is right.

I doubt it though because you can’t actually buy the thing since like three or four years or something now. I had to search for the end of the Earth before I could find even a (decent and complete) second-hand Vita. Let alone a game. Obviously this is anecdotal, but I doubt mine is the only country that hated Vita. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out it was overtracked by a million or two here. If only Sony would just give numbers.

But anyway, like I said congrats in case VGC is right.

Agreed. The system could've been more successful, if Sony had put more trust in it and send some more support it's way.

The hardware design & memory cards..... just wasnt up to par.
Sony messed up the hardware simple as that, it coulda been cheaper and used normal memory cards.

I dont think better software 1st party support would have done much for it.

Its a great little system for all the jrpgs it has though, and thats the niche that helped got it accross that 16m mark.

Yeah, the memory cards were bad. Still I think some more support should've helped the system.

sadly not more, because it's very impressive system...hoped it would do (much) better

It would have just been wasted effort...
its like the Wii U, bad choices where made, and the excution at start wasnt good enough.

Thats not to say they couldnt make a good Vita 2 (but I think they burnt the name) next time around (just learn from your mistakes).
A new PSP without all the silly stuff that drives up prices, and with normal memory cards supported (equal to or faster than a switch handheld in terms of power) and youd probably see success with it.

Sony dropped the ball so badly with the Vita. I think it's truly a great piece of hardware, Sony just needed to shower it with first party offerings. It's a shame they didn't.

Unless you have official sources the Vita didn't pass anything. Looking at the software sales there's no way this ever came close to even 16M sales.

All in all that is a pretty sad milestone. I wonder if Sony even made a profit from the device?

So you believe the Vita software sales on VGC but not the Vita hardware sales on VGC? That is... very selective. Whatever support your argument, I guess.

Or do you have official sources about the total Vita software sales?
