Yodobashi Camera, a retailer that’s the equivalent of a Best Buy in Japan, has completely sold out of Octopath Traveler pre-orders just 4 days before the game launches.

It’s extremely rare to see a major first party or third party title selling out before its release date. This speaks volumes of how much attention Octopath Traveler is getting. On Amazon Japan, Octopath Traveler is currently the No. 1 bestselling video game.

And yet people say that it won't pass 2M mark

I think it will do pretty good. Got the collectors edition ordered :D

Yeah, I see it selling as well as XC 2 at the very least, which most likely means 2 million LT at the lowest.But honestly, considering everything, like the time its releasing, the marketing, the quality of tha gem, I would bet this game will pass 3 million units and maybe even sell 4 millions LT.

I hope it does well. It won’t stop the stigma of only Nintendo games selling on Nintendo consoles, but it can at least prove that, along with Mario + Rabbids, that original, new games from big third party developers can find a place on Nintendo Switch. It doesn’t have to be a port of a well known game to do well.

This game will destroy Bravely Default's Worldwide sales. Maybe now Square will now be forced to make good RPGs again.

I don't think this game will change Square's mindset sadly. I think they'll still leave their main series in Nomuras hands and make long development cycles. Maybe more rapid, decent games will come from the newly formed Switch division though.
