30k behind one of the best-selling consoles ever when it's doing nearly as well as its peak year is mediocre? You must have some high standards.

LOL.. You're totally correct.  A few months of being down 120k isn't going to mean a whole lot when Switch dominates Christmas by a large margin.  Sony has put out more major first party software in the spring and summer whereas Nintendo focuses that content more around Christmas when people are buying consoles in droves.

Here's my two cents on it. PS4 has plenty to push sales this Christmas, possibly including another Black Friday deal. The real concern for its sales is that the console is finally approaching market saturation, whereas the Switch has a much larger base of customers that may want one but don't own it. A lot of its heavy-hitters this season are also available on PC and Xbox, which will fragment things somewhat (though those games are still most likely to sell best on PS4).

This year, the PS4 is down a bit over last year. Next year, the PS4 will likely be down over this year. It'll still sell great but slowly decline until the PS5 is announced. Switch is (so far) on an upward tick because it's newer and just as popular as the PS4 was in the same time-frame.

Is the xbox x really that bad? It's quite powerful so would an xbox 2 in the next 2 years really be able to pull off a big enough jump over that to justify hype?

Wasn't really talking about the X in particular. It came too late for this generation and as nice as the machine seems, it doesn't make up for the lack of quality exclusives on Xbox right now.

Plus it did crap all for moving the needle. Its not like X caused the sales to increase by much if at all. Kinect (original) it is not

Does anyone have a full update on the total hardware numbers? I’m missing one week.

The only thing that can stop PS4 is its age. The dragon is getting old.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

Maybe, but remember that the PS2 continued to sell well even after the PS3 launched. The price cut is a powerful thing.

Yes, a price cut and a few bundles.

For now I agree with you.. But once switch has a cheaper mobile only model I think that Switch sales will go above ps4 peak levels due to the ability to sell multiple units more easily in one home.  A larger potential market.

Switch is actually doing better than I was expecting one month ago. Sounds like it should be up this quarter YoY again. Next quarter should be the same, or a bit worse than last year's and the holiday quarter should be considerably better. All in all, I'm still expecting it to ship 18m this year, unless Pokémon and Smash cause a bigger impact than we expect (which is not impossible).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
