Could the Switch reach GameCube numbers by the end of september ?

It'll be close at least, would need to average ~250k a week. Sales should be up in the coming weeks.

XBOX One needs to step it up. Can’t bank on BC and the fact that gamers are pissed about cross-play.

I think it's a very very very very very vocal minority that are pissed off about that. Most people understand that if you buy a system like the Switch you can't play online with people on other consoles, it's nice when it is introduced into games, but it's not the norm.

Also while the PS4 doesn't allow cross play in some titles to the X1/Switch, it does cross over with the PC, but if you think of it like this, Switch+X1+PC < PS4+PC numbers as in, if you add both non ps4 systems together it's 56million where as there is 80m PS4's out there, so cross play of PC/PS4 is still going to be a larger pool than Switch/X1 and PC combined.

step up to do what? the gen is pretty much over for them. They need to start preparing for their follow up. 

Don't get me wrong it's not doing too terrible for being the cheapest next gen console. I give it props for having exclusives though because if it wasn't for them it would be looking at WiiU/Xbox one numbers. I forget when Octopath Traveler comes out but I'm sure during that week it'll push it over PS4 worldwide that week.
