Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: MvCI update (Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite: Uncanny Edition) to be released early 2019

Well, apparently, there's been a new leak on 4chan that's been making the rounds the last few days. Capcom is reportedly making an update to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, entitled Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite: Uncanny Edition. It's gonna be an almost complete overhaul from the first game with refined graphics and presentation, 3v3 option, and many characters added, including, yes, the X-Men/Dr. Doom. The leak also alleges it's aiming for an early 2019 release window to promote Avengers 4 with Capcom taking the brunt of the creative control this time around. And of course, there will be more Capcom characters added than Marvel characters to balance the roster back out, since there were 4 Marvel DLC characters to only 2 Capcom DLCs for the base game.

I hope like hell it IS true. MvCI was mechanically fun as hell to play, it's just that the roster, graphics, UI, menus, story mode, etc., pretty much everything else was a complete mess and really held it back (and not just because of the lack of X-Men/Doom, either, though it certainly didn't help), save for the netcode, which was surprisingly good. If they really do plan on fixing the graphics and menus and add more of the characters fans wanted from the start (I know I wanted Leon, Wesker, Captain Commando, Asura, etc.), including the X-Men/Doom, that would be awesome. It's even got my waifu, Jill, using her MvC2 moveset. IF this is legit (big if), I hope they give her her RE3 skin as her default to promote REmake 2, and why not with Nemesis already in the game (who I can definitely see making a small cameo in the remake)?

However, there's many takeaways from this leak that make me say it's fake, so take this with a grain of salt.

(Notes talk in the thing about a Switch version being considered.....)

Why do they even need to think about it. Fighting Games from more than just Nintendo have been selling well: heck CAPCOM fighting games had been selling well.

PS4/Xbox1/Switch/PC, it's that easy Capcom. Don't be dunces.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I don't believe it for one second.

Launching the Switch version together with the update would be an easy and obvious way to market it. But it is Capcom we are talking about, if they did a Switch port it would be months after the update and asking full price for it.

This rumour is fake. There was a similar rumour for Marvel 3. It used the same subtitle "Uncanny". The leak way before was most likely right, but those plans were probably scrapped.

Me, neither. Adding 3 Resi characters and only one Street Fighter character (Akuma)? Getting rid of the Infinity Stones for 3v3 when the entire game is literally centered around them? Forgive me if I smell bullshit.

Another thing that makes me question this is the fact that it says specifically that Dante will be using his DMC5 skin as his default to promote DMC5, yet it says nothing about using Jill's RE3 skin as her default with REmake 2 right around the corner, just that she'll be using her MvC2 moveset. Why the hell would they not want that extra bit of REmake 2 promotion with Leon reportedly being added and Nemesis already in the game, who I can definitely see making a small cameo in the remake? The zombified Brad encounter in the original RE2, which took place shortly after Nemesis first appeared in RE3 (and it was no coincidence, either), wasn't made canon until AFTER the fact IIRC, so there's a good chance Nemmy will make a small cameo in REmake 2. Why they would change Dante's default to promote DMC5, but pass on a picture perfect opportunity for additional REmake 2 promotion beyond adding Leon (and RE fanservice in general) is beyond me.

The original rumors also states, that due to being such a big overhaul, in which they have to redo a lot of stuff, the game will only have a standalone release and wont be offered via a patch/DLC for those who bought the original.

So basically the original supporters are fu(ked once again. This scenario reminds me of MCV3 and MVC3:U

You don't remember the 90s :P.  Though the rumour is false.  Capcom gave Arcade Edition update free. If they do an update they'd do the same and "maybe" charge money for season 2 characters.

As long as Disney keeps its weird demands over the game, it's not going to improve, not to mention the artstyle is still leagues below MvsC 2 or 3U.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It says it's a standalone version, nothing about a digital update for those who bought the original.
