Why don't you change the title to

Wolfenstein 2 on Switch, XBOX One, PS4 and PS4 Pro is a good product if you don't care about resolution?

Comparing a 720p shot to a 4K XBOX ONE X shot is the most loaded post I have seen on here.

Hell if you care about resolution so much fork out the cash for a high end PC and play it at 8K and stop being a pretender that 4K is were it's at.

I played through Wolfenstein 2 on a standard X1, so I can tell you the game does look a bit muddy. The Switch version goes well beyond that though. The lowest drops on X1 is still significantly higher than Switch seems to range at, especially undocked.

Also, its worth noting the X1 and PS4 taking a big resolution hit for 60 fps. At 30 fps they would be much sharper.

As always, somebody always misses the point of the screenshots. Its merely a comparison, an idea of what the game looks like at the highest console fidelity versus how Switch looks. The Switch screenshot I posted is definitely not 720p, it looks like the dynamic resolution has somewhere between 480p-540p. Actual 720p would look much better.

that doesn't look half bad on the switch. i mean sure, it isn't as pretty as the xbox one but it still looks damn fine for a handheld game.

I hear ya, but do want Switch games to focus on resolutions like this? Better effects and assets over resolution? I doubt you want that.

Does it really look "damn fine"? I dunno about that, it looks viable.

The game is a great product regardless, I hate how this generation is so numbers of obssessed. Maybe my eyes are different, but your eyes adjust to resolution after a while. Like have none of you gone back to play a retro game during the HD era? A watched a through a gameplay segment and was more struck by the fps. With res, within 30 seconds, you're no longer thinking about the resolution and are just enjoying the experience. And I tend to lean more towards quality of VFX over resolution (depending on the game), because thats something that constantly surprises and joys you throughout the experience.

Still think this is kind of a weird game to port to Switch, I really hope it does well but I think it'll have an uphil battle.

I agree Partrina. To get that thing running on Switch it also looks damn fine to me as well. I didn't think it was possible.

Yeah, this just further conviences me that Switch is just a little too under powered for current gen games. It is great for those that only have a Switch that these games are being made available, but after my expereinces with Doom and WWE 2K18, I will keep my portable 3rd party gaming alive on PS Vita via Remote Play.

For me Nintendo just needs to keep delivering great exclusives for Switch, and then get the Switch 2 out hot on the heels of PS5/XB4, with a chipset that can run Gen 9 games at, at least 720p in handheld mode. There is definitly a need for a handheld that can deliver native playback of current games, but for me Switch is just a bit short.

I wonder how much a chipset like that in a tablet form-factor would cost, if it's possible at all? Power draw a is a huge concern, considering the console depends on a battery in portable mode.

All depends on just what we get with next gen consoles. If we end up with 6 Core Ryzen, 12TFLOP Navi, and 16GB GDDR, then there will be no issue at all making a Portable verision. If we end up with something like 12 Core Ryzen, 18TFLOPs Navi, and 32GB GDDR, then it may be a bit more of a stretch. Just depends on how Sony/Microsoft want to flesh out their ecosystems.

I kinda hope we get a Mobile with 6 Core Ryzen, 3 TFLOPs Navi, and 8GB HBM aiming for 720 -1080p. Then a Base console with 6/12/16GDDR shooting for 1440p, and finally a high end model 12/18/32GDDR aiming for 4K.

Well from the start we knew this engine works on Switch, the engine is scalable, and they could drop settings for lower end specs.

The question wasn't really could Switch do it, but what could they accomplish and where would they compromise. I did not anticipate such significant resolution drops, it might be the worst in that department.

I have zero problems with what's being produced. Panic Button did a great job and can't wait to see what they master next on the Switch. Hopefully their announcement they've been teasing has something switch related tied to it.
