Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom: "MHW can't be done on Switch." But might make a Switch specific MH game. (Rumor)

im down, keep a MHW series going on ps4, give switch its own series, ill buy them all

Yeah, just have two series running parallel, have the World games on PS4/XBO/PC and either start a new series for Switch going forward, or just release Monster Hunter 5... although wasn't World actually Monster Hunter 5 just renamed or something?

Also this thread reminds me; I need to buy Monster Hunter World at some point, lol. I've already missed out on some cool costumes :P

I thought you weren't going to play Monster Hunter World?

In other we words "MHW will cost too much to optimise on the Switch so we wont waste our resources" expect MH5 on both Switch and 3DS.

Nothing is impossible.

South Korea beating German in the world cup proves that lol.

Just effort vs cost is the deciding factor.

As I said before, its not the ideal solution.Going multiplatform with MH would be the best, since it would mean less resources used overall and everyone would enjoy the same game. But this is better than nothing.

But I seriously hope that they do take MH on Switch seriously just as they did with World.

If the Switch was on the same level as the other two systems, I would agree, but it isn't.
And this game isn't like your yearly sports game (FIFA, NBA), average FPS (Doom, Wolfenstein), or remaster/remake/port from previous systems (Crash, Skyrim) that don't take much effort or require much resources to develop. MHW is the first true, original, HD entry of one of Capcom's most important franchises that was built from the ground up to take full advantage of the PS4 and Xbox One hardware. So, to say "just port it over to Switch" is not as simple as the other games I mentioned above, there would be a lot more sacrifices to be made and it got to the point where Capcom obviously thought the game's quality would have taken too much of a hit and that it wasn't worth it.

Like you said, and I agree, it's not the ideal solution. But, it's the best one available in this instance to satisfy all parties involved.

Damn, I might have to try MHW once it gets its next sale, I initially wrote it off after an hour with the beta as a HD MH but watching it and reading of the mechanics over the last few days has really peaked my interest, especially in terms of the AI and environmental elements they've implemented, I can see why they can't down port this. It's great to see developers make use of power that isn't simply graphics focused and if I werent on a bit of a frugal stint I'd buy full price to support this.... not that it needs my support, mind.

Nah. Just wait for the Ultimate version. It'll come soon.

?????????????????????????????????????

You keep saying that but Monster Hunter World's new monsters and weapons come in the form of updates. It's not like the 3DS games were you had to wait to double dip. Even if it gets an Ultimate edition it will probably just be like a PS4 background.

We all have our interests, so this new was worthy for a Nintendo fan(boy), who...in their need to give Nintendo and their Switch a better light, has exaggerated a bit, by replacing "might" with "will".

Why does the thread title say "will" which implies certainty, but the actual text says "might" which implies uncertainty?

Im sure the new MH on Switch will be more like MHW anyway. Its the best selling MH, so why wouldn't it?
