Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft E3 2018 Is The Highest Watched Livestream Ever on Twitch

I find it a bit odd that Xbox had the most viewers both this year and last given their standing in the console space. I feel safe in saying PS and Nintendo have a stronger brand/more mindshare, and are unquestionably outpacing them in both console and software sales. Not meant to be a jab. Just highlighting the contrast.

The only thing I can think of is that Xbox fans are more diehard. Or perhaps they are more likely to crave positive news about their console of choice. I guess they could just be more likely to watch it on Twitch.

Or maybe MS just forces their employees to watch it.

Well deserved, but does it mean anything?

Well, considering Sony and MS had the same gap last year, but Sony sold the most in the US, I'd say no. Plus, EA has the lowest viewers, but their games continue to sell.

Yeah, that may be true.  Also, MS was on the weekend, Sony wasn't.  So, while I was able to watch XB live, I had to watch PS after the fact.

Microsoft's conference was more enjoyable so I'm glad that more people watched it live.

Yes, the XB conference was by far the best of E3 this year.  But, nobody knew that before they watched them all, so it can't have had much effect on the initial viewership.

On the other hand, how many people walked away from their TV, or surfed away to another corner of the internet during that Sony intermission, never to return?

Or maybe they were just the first show of E3 (not counting EA since it was nothing) and the show was pretty good (and about 2 hours)? Doesn't take that much mental gymnastics buddy.

Interesting to see there was even a 200k difference between Microsoft and Sony conferences two years in a row, and poor ol' EA down there actually losing viewership, lol. What did they even show off? I didn't watch theirs.

Command and Conquer Rivals... For mobile. (Sadly that was there game of the show and it was a slap in the face to CnC fans.)

I watched their E3 from my Xbox One through Mixer. It just felt "right" that way lol.

Xbox One is pretty much neck and neck in the US and the bulk of those views are probably from there.

Perhaps Sony would be first if they would have their conferences at a livable time for Europeans.

The biggest video game market couldn't watch Sony's conference (2-3PM on a weekday), how weird that they have less viewers...

Sadly missed a few of the conferences, but its great to see that the Xbox conference did well. #Xboxisthebestbox

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
