if Sony acquired from software ...imagine the meltdown . Too bad it Will never hapen lol

Right. I do think BluePoint and Quantic Dream are strong possibilities, though. And, they are imminent if they're going to happen (within the next year - as Sony often acquires devs near the end of one generation, or the beginning of the next).

I could swear that I read somewhere back then that Sony bought them after Heavy Rain success.   Weird stuff :S

Hopefully they buy them and Bluepoint.

I would love it especially with the recent Microsoft purchase of Ninja Theory, i'm sure Sony is a lil nervous.

I hope sony doesn't get QD. we need a different type of game studios. platformers or shooters. or other genres.
we already got the movie games from ND

A ridiculous notion. Naughty Dog's games are totally different from Quantic's. Being 'cinematic' =! the same.

regardless. I hope not. we need a game studio. not a movie studio.

its not like we're worried anyone is gonna acquire QD anyway. since the only interest in their games is on playstation

insomniac is lucrative for anyone

I'm pretty sure the ND games have a lot of shooting sequences (TLoU, Uncharted, Jak & Daxter) and a lot of jumping and climbing (Uncharted, Jak & Daxter, Crash Bandicoot).

So we already got the platformers and shooters from ND and we don't need them from other developers.

That article is full of the usual PR fluff. I couldn't find any good reason, just....

"However, it was felt that by focusing our investment plans on other Studios that are currently working on exciting new projects, we would be in a stronger position to offer the best possible content for our consumers."

The usual PR when Sony/Microsoft/EA/Activision close a studio.

In other words, no reason to just assume an Insomniac closure would be imminent after one dud (if that were to even happen).

What shouldn't be forgotten here is most of these studios don't run an independent budget , they are resourced from SWWS funds  pool and the fact is they are subsidised by the big hits Shue stated that  every hit game makes it possible for around 7 other games to be made , so when restructuring is made they are the ones that get looked at because the reality is the lesser studios are in a similar boat to independent studios who live game to game , they fill the niche of having small to medium size teams that make your lower tier IP that broadens out your portfolio that although  individually  they aren't  enough to sustain a studio when taken collectively are super important.

So in effect they are closer to factories than creative studios and more and more is being off loaded to  outside contractors  remasters being most prominent.

What is obvious after looking at those studios is the technical side of game making is pretty easy to fill ,it's the good ideas and stories characters that's hard, what is needed is a model where you seed the big studios with groups of creative personnel who 's job is to workshop game ideas over a fixed time frame of a year or two with monthly presentations to the studio they are adjoined to for feedback, and if or when an idea is greenlit they then move it to one of the other studios , then depending on further evaluation it either stays at that scale or they ramp up the team size.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

to have insomniac in the first party studios of sony would be really great

There is a lot of speculation that if Spiderman does well, Sony may bring Insominiac into its fold.

insomniac not going to happen.. its too big of a studio for Sony to manage and put financial resources into and sony prefers to buy smaller studios, I think Sony was looking into buying Ready at Dawn, but didnt go through as they were restructuring WWS to and saw closure of many studios, also failure of order 1886 didn't help. Right now Sony and insomniac are both happy with their relationship, and from SO poor sales insomniac learned where their core fan base is. If anything there is a high chance of Sony buying Housemarque or Suppermassive games.

If Spiderman reviews well and sells gangbusters (GoW levels) then i can actually see this happening.
Sony will want Insomniac to make more Spidey games for them.
