Forums - Gaming Discussion - Activision strikes again: locking BO4 DLC behind season pass and BO3 DLC behind BO4 digital pre-orders FOR PS4 ONLY!

Thats the deal unless you work for activision and have inside info.

EA and activision are going to do their job to make the most money for stockholders. The job of consumers is to get the most product for the least amount of money. I wonder who is doing the better job. Hint the stockholders are very happy and the consumers are idiotic

Meh. It's futuristic warfare again anyway. Not one fuck is given from me.

Exactly.
Although to be fair... I won't even pick it up if I find it in the bargain bins for a couple dollars a few years down the line. Because what's the point?

There is none, not for us anyway.

I've heard so many "built from the ground up" excuses over the years that it's become irksome to hear that being uttered in the same sentence as "port". We know 90% of the time it's a straight up console port. The only things that truly set it apart are the inclusion of other options, but hose are basically baseline to PC gaming and have been for years, so not including them is completely asinine, but including them also doesn't mean "built from the ground up" either.

It doesn't help that this is going to be an always online based game, more so by the fact that it's using B.net, a client that only oeprates with an itnernet connection. At elast with Steam you ahd an offline mode, but you do not with B.net, as all of their games oeprate with an online network requirement.

I don't see the worth of paying £50 for the baseline game, let alone it being an always online console port, with a highly likely smaller player base now that it's locked to just B.net. Activision is just pulling a Ubisoft at this point, another self fulfilling prophecy.

Also like EA:

<SNIP>

You would think by abolishing the single player campaign, that they would have freed up development resources/funding so that this very exact thing wasn't necessary though.

It's just greed.

Simply put, yes, it's all or nothing this year.

That's why everyone's so up-in-arms about it. Even worse, they have the audacity to lock the season pass behind the Special Edition instead of selling it separately. And because not everyone checks the gaming news sites, people who were gonna buy the MP maps are gonna buy the standard edition not knowing they'll be locked out of the MP maps.

Funny how Activision doubles down on their greed in the one year where they can't afford to split their playerbase with Battlefield V (free maps, no loot boxes or season pass), Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the free DLC Fortnite all competing for their services. This is gonna come back to bite em in the ass, loads of people are already cancelling their pre-orders because of this shit. Good, voting with your wallet is the only way to bring about change.

Activision doing a great job trying to kill CoD, i won't be buying this scam of a game.

Me, neither. The game was already dead to me before this (it's literally just a reskinned BO3 without jetpacks and wall-running), but now?

I had to read the news twice to make sure it wasn't as bad as it initially sounded. Jokes' on me. It is.

This will be the third year in a row that Activision fucks up with it's cash cow, and I'm thinking the damage will be permanent. Black Ops has always been the overall series favorite for the community, and I've never seen this much animosity towards one of Treyarch's games before it's even out. Every single reveal and announcement video for BO3.5 has been met with fan rage. When your hype videos are pissing off consumers, ya done fucked up!

Shame too since it's looking like MW4 is next, but if they're gonna keep using these scummy tactics, maybe it's for the better fans pass on BO3.5 before the real disappointment turns up next year.

Lol no it isnt. Art style is the same but game mechanics are way different.  Also it's gonna have a BR mode, and 3 zombie maps at launch.
