Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Update: Warframe announced for Switch, being ported by Panic Button

Fortnite, Paladins, Warframe and ES Legends all made on to the Switch before any equivalent Blizzard title if someone puts a Diablo 3 like game on the platform it will become even more baffling.

The fact that Overwatch hasn't come to Switch yet is downright bizarre, it makes perfect sense.

You're being negative about something Nintendo related? SHOCKING.

Not really, I just see no reason panic button hyped this.

They didn't really hype it, they just casually mentioned in an interview about Wolfenstein II that they had another Switch port to announce soon. It's not like they were teasing it as some mind-blowing revelation, "you won't believe what we're working on next", etc.

But oh well. After all, a Korean asset flip FPS game, from a mobile company, with rampant cheating, no regional servers, and broken physics won GotY last year.

What game would that be?

Tried it, didn't get into it. Am interested to see if panic button prioritize shaders and effects over resolution again. Stop it Panic Button.

Their approach seems to depend on the game; with Doom and Wolfenstein they seemed to place priority on maintaining the game's graphical aesthetic as much as possible while taking a hit in resolution and framerate, while in Rocket League they cut back effects in order to hit 60fps.

Kind of a random question but why is it that devs seem to always target either 30 or 60fps? Is their a reason that say targeting stable 45fps isnt really a thing?

As I understand it, the majority of screens refresh 60 times per second, so 30 and 60 fit neatly into that by displaying a new frame every 1 or 2 refreshes. 45 isn't a multiple of 60, so it wouldn't fit evenly into the screen's 60 refreshes, leaving some frames persisting on screen for longer and creating a subtle sense of judder.

G-Sync solves this by synchronizing screen refresh with frame output, but it's not really mainstream yet and so for most gamers either 30 or 60fps offers the most consistent experience.

Ok that makes sense, thanks.

I'm kind of amused that AAA has become so convoluted a term that now a Free 2 Play game is considered AAA.

Depends, if it is ps4 exclusive (even time) it will definitely be AAA just like Sony fans always say No Man Sky is AAA of indies

A F2TP game released 4 years ago is a big AAA announcement?

Just like No Man Sky is AAA of indies, Sony fans always told that to me

Why do you seem obsessed about NMS? Two posts in a row to complain about it were necessary?

NMS has never been an AAA. It's an indie game developed by a small team, "AAA of indie" is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. What's next? "The most FPS of racing games"?

Warframe isn't AAA and never was, that's it.

Panic Button is a Switch beast. They’ve discovered a golden method in their porting ability.

Isn't it online only? Can you play online easily on the go, like in the train?

I have played Splatoon 2 online on the train using my phone hotspot. It just depends on how much GB you have on your plan (luckily I recently got a 20BG plan for a cheap price)

Hard to be excited about a game on Switch that requires internet access.

I see where you are coming from. But a lot of games these days (especially on mobile) do recquire Internet to play any content of it. Sooo dont expect this to change any time in the future. But expect to have more of it......

I barely even heard of Warframe before now. I had to look it up, and for a minute I thought it was Starhawk. It just boggles my mind how people can think that these F2P games are as good as full priced games. I tried Fallout Shelter the other day for Switch. I thought since it was made by Bethesda it would be exceptionally good for a free game. I hated it. The menu was clunky, progression was clearly padded out, to incentivize buying lootboxes, and the whole game was randomly generated.

But oh well. After all, a Korean asset flip FPS game, from a mobile company, with rampant cheating, no regional servers, and broken physics won GotY last year.

I get what you are trying to say, but for me Free2play games like Mabinogi, Dragon Nest and League of legend are like my top 3 most played game. These games usually start with barely any content, but years after years you can see it evolve.

And of course this does not apply to everyone. And I do understand how people do not have great interests in these free2play games.
