Idk last year had a huge title each quarter while this year has a much steadier flow of small-medium sized titles. For example.

May 2017-Disgaea 5, Minecraft, Street Fighter II

June 2017-ARMS

July 2017-Splatoon 2

VS.

May 2018-Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Little Nightmares, Street Fighter Collection, Mega Man Collection 1+2, Battle Chasers: Nightwar

June 2018-Sushi Striker, Fortnite, Paladins, Fallout Shelter, Mario Tennis, Crash Bandicoot, Wolfenstein

July 2018-Shining Resonance, Captain Toad, Octopath Traveler, Code of Princess, Mega Man X Collection

Thing is though that Splatoon 2 alone has more system selling power than all those games put together, plus in May of last year Switch was still on a roll from BOTW.

Simply add the octo expansion for Splatoon 2, easy win for 2018

It's possible, but I'm starting to doubt that will happen. It may get close, though.

I think they will ship 18 million. unless they pricecut

but maybe I am underestimating pokemon. I feel like most smash bros fans already own a switch

Why do you feel that? The current Switch installbase is probably only just above what Smash Ultimate will sell ltd. It'd make more sense to say 3D Mario and Zelda fans already have a Switch as those series exist on the system, but even that is clearly not true as the games are still selling.

It's been selling well on the back of Wii U ports for the first half of the year. So yes I think it could hit that 20m sweet spot on the back of the major system sellers it has for the rest of the year,

Putting Pokemon and Smash three weeks apart, both during a peak sales time is going to impact this, imo. I doubt Nintendo's supply chain will be able to keep up with demand at that point so they will be leaving potential sales unfulfilled. An earlier release - say late September - for Smash would have helped smooth that out somewhat.

For Japan at least.  Just imagine if they released Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing within a year.  Japan would catch on fire.

DLC won't have the same selling power as the base game did, it appeals to the same people who would've already got a Switch for Splatoon 2.

Super Mario Party is going to sell alot of switches you can quote me on that

Y’all are forgetting about that Yokai Watch 4 in Japan this year

I think it's possible. Not only because of exclusives and huge seller line-up (Pokemon, Smash, Yokai, Mario Party), but also games like Fortnite. I can see many people actually buying a Nintendo Switch just so that they can play it on the go.
