Here we have 24 months warranty on all electronics by EU regulations.

Wouldn't have helped because he was between 24 and 36 months.

Also the 24 months warranty needs some goodwill of the seller since you have to prove that the error existed at the time of delivery.

I was pissed when my PS4 just stopped outputting video and the $99 was the only choice after trying to get the hdmi port replaced.

It's still sitting there, still broken. I managed to get remote play working, so that's nice but yea...
