Forums - Gaming Discussion - Cyberpunk is a first person shooter RPG, play as male or female

That actually sounds really good to me, like an open world Deus Ex.

Didn't realise first-person had gotten such a bad rep on these forums.

Awesome, good to hear. My interest has been restored. I always find FP to be much more immersive and it's so much easier and more seamless when interacting with the world.

And what's with the "oh this means it's just a shooter" ignorance? Are these people new to gaming?

I think the 3rd person only crowd have gotten far too used to playing those games, instead of trying other games with varying camera angles. For years we've had third person with some FPS in the mix, now we're finally seeing more Iso style games, and Sadly Capcom is bringing back yet another OTS angle with Resi 2, rather than bringing back an old school FCA camera style.

Probably because:

1. Coming off of the back of The Witcher series, people expected more Third Person goodness.

2. This is CD Projekt Red's first FPS.

3. Short of being another game on the level of Portal or Bioshock, it will be "just another shooter".

I can't believe how many people flat out refuse to play a first person game. I guess I just have to accept that there are people with more preferential barriers than me, but a first person camera is not going to ruin my enjoyment, far from it.

It's crazy how elitist this sounds.

If someone doesn't like FPV then they don't like it.

Not everyone likes VNs or RTSs.

Ehm ... no it isn't.

My entire point was that while I usually put myself in the shoes of people who have completely different preferences (like I can understand not liking a genre I like), it's significantly harder for me to do so with an entire type of camera angle - BUT that I can understand people have preferences and that that's okay. That's an important point that you are missing out on. How does that sound elitist? I'm literally saying that while I accept other people's preferences, it's hard for me to empathize with that mindset.

If it is "just another shooter" then it would still have been "just another shooter" if it was a TPS so that avenue of complaining is moot.  If it has a focus on other things then it won't be "just another shooter" regardless of being FP or TP.

I'm simply thankful that it's not "just another third-person melee game".

Also, I feel like it's a cop out if we call a FPS "just another shooter", it makes FPS's sound lame and looked down upon when we say it like that. That genre gave a lot to the industry and is one of the more popular ones, right up there with JRPG and Racing.

Besides, TPS fans have lots to look forward to next year, as well as this year. FPS fans on the other hand have a few titles to choose from.

Dammit. I was hoping for third-person. Guess I'll make decision on it after I see gameplay.

Because your word choice doesn't reflect this at all.

Oh so you 'cant believe' ppl have a different opinion to you - Like really?

I guess shows you are not certain in accepting ppl have different preferences. So it sounds like you think other ppl are wrong.

Then you proceed to say that you wont let the camera in place 'ruin your enjoyment' as if you are better than everyone whose enjoyment might be ruined.

Your posted reply isn't any better. 'While you can usually understand others opinions' this opinion is somehow 'odd' and difficult to understand. Really? its difficult to understand that someone doesn't want to play from a certain camera perspective? Like this preference has existed in gaming for years.

...Wow ... you are taking this too seriously

I mean, nothing wrong with trying to flex some muscles, but I think it's very obvious that I just wrote my comment in a way that doesn't accurately describe what I meant to say. So, I'm sorry for that.
