2/10 simply for Fire Emblem. absolutely nothing else for me. 60% of the show on Smash, something i have no interest in
called it last year that this was going to be switch's weakest year, and that looks correct. really weak 2018

So much negative news, my heart could barely take it! +Mech game is interesting, nice way to start +Fortnite releasing today +Console Mario Party finally drops the god damn car +Fire Emblem looks good so far -Fire Emblem gets delayed, please understand -Yoshi not even shown, please understand -Only 1 new 1st party announcement, which is just Mario Party -Xenoblade DLC does nothing for me -Splatoon 2 DLC still lacks a date -Wasted time on the Pokemon cash grab -Smash ends up being a port despite Nintendo implying otherwise and letting us think it was a new game -Spent way too much time on Smash over tiny details -amiibo still aren't dead |
Smash is obviously not a port.

So, if this is the weakest year, can we expect to be a lot better from now on? Hype!

• I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting Mario Party and Smash looked. I typically don’t like these games. |
Since they use Direct all year long, I wasn’t expecting much more than what they usually reveals during those. I even expected them to use the headline style presentation. Overall, the Direct did it’s job, showing what’s coming now or soon with a few tid bits on games for next year, with enough content on Smash to be sure that this game will be the most talked about during the event.
You where hoping for something? Who knows, maybe we will see it at the next Direct.

Agreed on that point then. Anyone acting like this Direct somehow negatively impacts Nintendo's sales forecasts is taking it too far.
It still sucked though.

It's so freaking new, you will swear you've played almost all of it before!
7.5 out of 10. (Same score I gave Sony, both of which were nowhere near as bad as some people are claiming it to be.)
What they showed off looked great. I'm excited for Fire Emblem. Super Mario Party looks promising. I'm excited for the Xenoblade 2 DLC as a Xenoblade fan. FighterZ is on Switch, hell yeah! I was holding off on buying it to see if a Switch version would be announced, sure enough, here it is. So I'm getting it for Switch!
Smash... I mean what else is there to say that hasn't been said already? They spent a little too much time on it. But, it's Smash Bros. So, I don't care. And they went from game to game, with little to no fluff in between, the pacing and structure was like your usual Nintendo Direct and MUCH, MUCH better than the layout of Sony's conference.
Overall, what they showed and how they showed it was great. The problem was that it wasn't enough. I was expecting more. Come on, Nintendo. We know you have more games and footage at your disposal. Where's Yoshi? Where's Travis Strikes Back? Where's Bayonetta 3? Where's Metroid Prime 4? Pikmin 4??? New Animal Crossing??? Retro's new game?!? Why are you holding out on us, Nintendo?
Think of it like... And this is going to sound like an extremely bizarre and odd comparison, mostly because it is, but bare with me here. Think of it like having sex and you stop right before you reach the apex. It felt really good, it was really enjoyable, but ended much sooner than you were hoping it would, leaving you ultimately unsatisfied.
