The sad reality of the US and democrats are also to blame since they often times have been a ""GOP light" on economic issues.

Blaming anyone isn't the thing to do here, if you ask me. Instead people should try to change something. And that's not just the people in the government, everybody should do anything he can to make their country just a little bit better. Just looking at what's wrong and blaming other people for it will get you nowhere.

It is very sad to see, however, the only solution is getting money (legalized bribery) out of politics. Only then can a road be paved towards improving peoples lives instead of profiting off them.

Well, if they'd stop buying avocado toast they wouldn't be in poverty, would they.

For the most part, people in the US don't pay attention to anything the UN says or cares.

Truth. This needs to be priority one. We can't expect elected officials to act on what's best for the most individuals, when they're beholden to specific corporations and industries, rather than their constituents. 

What do they pay attention to?

Everything else. The UN isn't really seen as an authority or of any real consequence to Americans. Most people don't even pay attention to politics in general. 

That's really sad, but not all surprising. Lobbyist influences and a lack of proper direction doesn't help thing improve either. Things are slowly getting worse over here as well, on a structural level at least, and even though we don't have a two-party system, we may as well for the variety we get. Parties amass in blocks and coalitions and tiny parties are given big influence by acting as the final piece of the coalition puzzle, rendering the whole point of direct vote democracy a lot less meaningful, if not pointless.
