How many centuries have passed for this demon to have aged this much?

I guess this is their answer to the criticism of emo teenager on DmC

Don't you mean their answer to the emo teenager of DMC4, Nero the emo, hence why they changed him to look less emo now. Funilly enough he looks more like DmC Dante now. Go figure right.

Wasn't DmC the emo crybaby Dante? Now I'm lost.

Next year should be great for Hack&Slash. I still hold this as the best shown in terms of gameplay. Hopefulle we´ll see more on Sony´s conference.

Looking forward to playing that and DMC 5.

Still in the last 10 years they released a collection and a reboot. Also we had entries on previous gen, so it wasn't totally unexpected to see one this gen.

The reboot failing after the original DMC4 fell short of sales expectations is the reason why people weren't sure when we'd ever see DMC again. And in what form.

I don't think you have to expect a game to never ever appear again to be genuinely surprised when it finally does, because we can go dozens of years without them seeing the light of day.
Everyone knew that Square Enix would make FF7 Remake at some point, but in spite of it being rumored almost every other E3, people were blown away when it was finally revealed.

12 years ago in 2006 we got Megaman X Collection.

Since then we've gotten yet another Megaman X Collection, before a Megaman X9. How many years should pass before I should stop being surprised that Megaman X9 doesn't get announced? And at what point should I be surprised when it finally does?

I know we will probably see Megaman X again some day. (Especially now that MM11 was announced.) But I don't know if it will be a watered down mobile game like Breath of Fire 6, or if I will have children and grandchildren when it happens, etc.

Because of what happened with DMC4 and DmC, we could have been looking at a period longer than 10 years to get a sequel to DMC4. And it could even have been yet another reboot attempt, or a drastic change in the art direction like Resident Evil 7. But no, this is a sequel to DMC4. Like the fans wanted.

Btw @bigtakilla here's the DMC5 theme "Devil Trigger" synced up to the DMC4 intro. Works surprisingly well.

Hiku, to be genuinely surprised either because it was revealed or revealed this year is one thing. To call it the biggest surprise of the gen is completely another.

MS announcing 5 studios and project scarlet is much bigger surprise.

Yeah, fair enough.

Square Enix, announce Chrono Trigger 2 please.

That we could say is a very big surprise... been what since first? 20 years?

Never played a DMC game but Nero looks bad imo compared to his old design. He looks way too similar to the Scalebound protagonist, the haircut isn't helping.

The robot arm could've looked better.

It seems like Capcom is abandoning their "Anime-ish" design for their games. Going more for the boring look like Resident Evil 7.

That's exactly what they're doing. The RE engine focuses on Photo realism.

Glad that it's not a repeat of that horrible abomination that was DMC.

That would be implying sales = quality. I think reviews on both meta and opencritic from both reviewers and users paint a pretty good picture of what the people who played the game actually felt about its quality. Also, I'm discussing DMC and Bayo competition. Old Hideki Kamiya vs new. I didn't say GOW has competition did I? Heck God of War isn't even a hack and slash in this last game.

But it's pretty assured we are going to see a new Silent Hill SOMETIME. So if they announced it in the next few days, no surprise at all right?

Never said sales = quality, but your premise was competition so sales is part of it. You also said Bayo 3 will get competition implying nothing that have already release could compete (and when you said Bayo2 is the best in the last 10 years that very much takes into account several GoW which still have more sales, good critics and reception) also new GoW have a lot of H&S after you clear a certain part of the game. Unless of course you want to keep putting additional points to disregard GoW and any other H&S.

Yes we can expect SH sometime in the future, so it wouldn't be "THE BIGGEST SURPRISE". You certainly love superlatives right? Bayo2 is the best in 10 years, only DMC5 have a chance to compete against Bayo3, Biggest surprise or no surprise at all. Have you ever heard of middle ground and reality?

You, yourself are again are implying things no one else said, as far as "nothing else competes with it". You like to do that a lot I see, and it can be hack and slash at certain parts=/= hack and slash game, essentially that isn't even the point though.

As for "biggest surprise" I did put probably, why are you putting absolutes to it? I'm open to other things being a bigger surprise, please quit putting words in my mouth.

Effectively at this point we aren't even discussing anything with me, you're making up reasons to discuss things with no one.
