Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Devil May Cry 5 Just Announced On The Xbox Stage.

I dont like the character desing at all, Nero looks like a mix between the fucked up version of Dante we got in DMC and the Scalebound protagonist, also Dante who appears at the very end of the trailer looks just... lets say i dont like it.

The gameplay looks really fun though.

Capcom said it will be 60fps! That's awesome, considering DmC was criticized for running at 30fps.

More details on characters and specific gameplay moves are still forthcoming—can Nero still MAX-Act rev the Red Queen?!—but rest assured the complete package will be delivered to you in true Devil May Cry form at a silky-smooth 60 frames-per-second and stunning visual fidelity, thanks to the power of our proprietary RE Engine

And there will be 3 playable characters:

However, Nero is not alone in this fight. Our gameplay announcement trailer above focuses on Nero and his new set of tricks, but Devil May Cry 5 will feature 3 playable characters, with their own unique over-the-top playstyles and flair.

I only played the PS2 versions so, maybe that's why I feel like it's so different?

Oh, actually I only played those as well. But I'm familiar with DMC4, having seen some gameplay from it.
Yeah he has some minor tweeks between DMC 1-4, while he was drastically changed for DmC.

This is what he looked like in DMC4.

Are some of you guys kidding me? If DmC was like this it would have been great (or at least from what I can tell so far)! It's obvious that this trailer is following Nero, who no, doesn't look like DmC Dante, no fauxhawk, no stupid british flags, no tank top/trench coat white trash combo, no shark teeth necklace, no excessive nude scenes of him or tons and tons of half nude women, attacks don't look weightless and combos don't appear endless, and to top it all off REAL DANTE'S BACK BABY!!!!

@bigtakilla Real Vergil is back as well. Well, we didn't see his face, but I'm sure he won't be Charlie Chaplin Vergil.

RIGHT!!!!

This could be the best thing that happens all gen for me!!!!! THANK YOU CAPCOM! Megaman 11, Devil May Cry 5, we already got Dead Rising 4, Capcom's killing it, absolutely fucking killing it!

Bayonetta 3 has some competition is probably the most surprising thing that will happen all gen.

How can a game that have had steady releases for like 17 years would make this the most surprising? And sure DMC5 will need a lot of help to compete with that sub 1M sales.

DMC has not had steady releases for the last 10 years. We got one poorly received reboot that Capcom are now pretending never happened. DMC4 was 10 years ago.

As for sales, Bayonetta 1 sold over 2 million and Bayonetta 2 sold over 1 million so I don't know where you're getting your numbers from.

So because you want to have Capcom pretending DmC didn't exist it also stopped being released?

Bayonetta 1 was a Multiplat and last I checked in VGC Bayo2 was sub 1M (but now it have double dips with Switch release). But if you want sure, will be even harder for DMC5 to reach the how much you will say Bayo 3 will sell?

And that trailer end showing X1 and X1X, as if PS4 and PC version didn't exist... always the little spin

Competition as far as how great a hack/slash game can be which sells better, but I was more thinking about how much I personally will like it, as well as critically how well will it score. Also who knows how well a game that is a sequel to a 10 year old game will do as far as sales. I personally think sales are a lock being Bayo only has the Switches audience while DMC has PC, PS4, and Xbone, but neither really fly off shelves.

As for the first sentence, who here KNEW there was gonna be a Devil May Cry 5. There was speculation, but there's speculation every year Half Life 3, Mother 3, and all sorts of crazy crap will release. This is like Mass Effect, will we ever see it again? If so it would be a pretty darn big surprise.

What he's saying is that the fate of the DMC franchise was very uncertain for the past 10 years.
DMC was steadily released around every 2 years up until DMC4 where sales dropped significantly. Capcom didn't know what to do, so they decided to reboot the franchise 5 years later with DmC. That blew up in their face and so people didn't know when we'd see DMC again, or if it would turn out like Megaman/Megaman X.

Exactly. This isn't Assassin's Creed, or COD. No one knew if we'd ever see this series again.

Still don't know how to feel. I'm sure the gameplay will be super solid.

But the aesthetics, the world, feel like is trying to be some weird mix of the classic DMC with the reboot, feels very off.

The black chick already annoys me to hell. And what the hell did they do to Dante, looks like a hobo.

Will need to see more, music was great tho.
