My exact thoughts. Who cares if they buy studios. It's about the management of those studios and what kind of games they pump out. This gen has given me little confidence on those things. And I think a lot of gamers are going to be wary of picking up just an XB2 if they can get just one console.

Personally, I see a repeat of this gen. Sony just has the mindshare, services install base, and goodwill going forward. And they are going to make to not repeat the mistakes of the PS3. This also means a good couple of years worth of Xbox 1st party support, but as the sales don't come in, it'll start to dry up.

hahahahaha and let me guess, MS will kill Xbox then?

I mean, that is what you predict since 2011!

Oh boy, I love you.

Xbox? No.  The console? Yes.  If you think with all the steps MS has made to switching gamers over to PC, that they will continue with consoles if Sony has another 100M+, while they sell less than 40M, you are kidding yourselves.  MS is making it clear, like I predicted, that they are going to give it a good push next gen.  But, if Sony, yet again, beats them down, MS (and their investors) are truly going to be tired of pumping money into HW.

A new studio delivering an AAAA, they really said that??? Because that very high aim is a certain recipe for failure.

I have to Agree whit you, the AAAA stuff can become a huge failure, but they are trying at least, and they sure got a chance to deliver something great.

Will wait and see this AAAA game on first try surpasing all AAA games to really deserve calling himself without any modesty.

Since when name calling and ad homine restricts to personality?

You assumed shot term thinking and adjectified that.

Xbox is still selling, not great. And they keep it selling, which shows they still need the consoles, which contradicts your own claim of seeing short term.

Haven't said Xbox slow sales have to do with their games being available in PC (although you can't prove the opposite, as you said "have little to do"). I said that they will keep needing consoles sales to get royalties on their games because so far they won't get much royalties from 3rd parties on PC.

Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.

Are you saying that I'm avoiding genuine discussion of the topic by attacking your character, motive or another attribute of you? I made a comment about your standpoint in this specific case, and I explained why. That's not an ad hominem attack. Perhaps if all I wrote was "You're short sighted", you could argue that it was an ad hominem, but that wasn't the case.

I never said console sales don't matter at all to MS. I said that they were broadening their gaming footprint, and that hardware sales don't matter if the increase gaming revenues from other sources, and I expect Microsoft (and Sony and Nintendo) to eventually become less reliant on hardware sales for their gaming revenue. If all you wanted to point out was that Microsoft's gaming division currently still is very reliant on hardware sales, you didn't really need to reply to me. I never said otherwise (in fact, I explicitly stated that hardware sales are currently an important source of users they can sell games and services too). I made some comments about what I expect from the future.

You are trying to put distance from it. But same as people who make dumb decision are dumb people, people that see short sighted are short sighted people. Also you made that from an assumption, so yes you tried to force it.

I was replying considering your previous posts before I replied with the doesn't caring if money came from X1 or MS Store and that HW sales doesn't mater if they receive money from other sources. Which for the visible future, you can put 3 to 5 years so not short sighted, they will keep their dependence on HW.

Calling someone short sighted.

Haven't said they can't gain marketshare, I said that at this moment they have very little. So they will keep needing consoles sales for play anywhere or even gamepass to do good.

Neither of those 4 are AAAA.

Of course not, no game is AAAA. It is over the top so that people know, that they are ambitious.
Don't make a big deal out of thin air.

Look, the Metro guys even called themselves AAAA

Anyone saying they are making an AAAA should at least beat all AAA to honor their balls on doing that... So unless they outsell CoD or GTA they have no place calling themselves AAAA.

The link to wikipedia doesn't say they named themselves 4A because they imply their games are AAAA quality or budget (because it isn't).

Considering their investment in Streaming that would be a fallback.

So if Metro: Exodus does not outsell CoD or GTA you demand the studio to change its name.
I like how you set the standards for the industry. I bet these guys in the Ukraine have heard you and will act accordingly. -.-

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Yeah, you said that when they bought the rights for Gears of War in 2014.
You have been proven wrong so many times... but you keep going. Whatever.

Some xbox fans are getting "little" overhyped.

With the snap of his fingers, he will close half of those studios if their first 1-2 games underperform.

Would anyone bet with me that whatever they do won't outsell GTA or CoD?

Have you show that they called themselves 4A (Not AAAA) because they are implying their game is bigger, better, sells more, have higher budget, etc than AAA games to call it AAAA?

If they did they just get to ridicule because their games doesn't even get near there... Sales that doesn't even outdo average AAA much less go another level of themselves as if no one is competing at the same or higher competence.

The Ninja Theory acquisition had me shook! Just came out of nowhere! Very solid acquisitions, this is what MS needed to do in order to reinvigorate my faith in single-player experiences on Xbox

Lol. I had the same reaction - very surprised. But i think its a good buy - action adventure is a genre MS is lacking in so this was quite a sensible purchase to plug in the gap. The purchase and establishment of 5 different studios also shows their commitment to game development.

And i think this is a good deal for NT who have occasionally struggled - provided of course that MS keep their promise to allow NT creative freedom.

I did find the purchase of the other studios a bit strange. As some have mentioned both Playground and Undead already make Xbox exclusives so a buy wasn't necessary (especially Undead astheir last game didn't review so great).

I guess the test is to see how these studios go forward and what new games they make
