Forums - Sony Discussion - Top 5 PS4 games

The PS4 has enjoyed massive commercial success and is host to lots of critically acclaimed games liked by gamers. So choose your favourites of the bunch. My favourites are as follows:

1. God of War: This is the gamed of the gen for me. Everything from the combat to the story, pacing and voice acting had me enthralled. I've been a fan of the series for a long time and was cautiously optimistic for the game before release, as I was expecting combat to be washed down and gameplay to get secondary treatment akin to Naughty Dog games. BOY was I wrong. Its moves and the playing around you can do is so good. The RPG elements from the previous games have recieved a big jump in complexity to offer a varied experience for different styles of play. This game has it all.

2. Dark Souls: Remastered: Dark Souls is the best game ever made but I played it before on PS3 so most of the experience was the same for me. It still had Artorias of the Abyss that I never played on PS3 and that is a pretty amazing DLC to the game. The boss fights in AOTA are the best in the game, the areas are good and it makes playthroughs on NG+'s more amazing. The coop is the best of any PS4 game and I love the Dark Souls community. Pretty amazing to play and look at 60fps and the new special effects are good.

3. Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition: Dark Souls 3 with all the DLC is a fantastic big game with design style that's reminiscent of the best bits of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 with some of the AMAZING Dark Souls 3 flare. Talking of Fire Fades Edition, it offers fantastic value, the best boss  battles in a game on current gen consoles and the best mechanics in the series. It is good not because its hard but because its effective and immersive to the core and an amazing conclusion to an amazing trilogy.

4. Infamous: Second Son: Fun is underrated. Infamous: Second Son is fun. REALLY fun. The powers offer variety in combat and the platforming is so engaging from start to finish. Best thing is that it doesn't overstay its welcome and the runtime is fitting but it still offers sufficient content for the buck. Best gameplay in the series and the entire series has amazing gameplay so that makes it a must play for anyone looking for a game that wants you to have fun playing it and doesn't waste your time with nonsense activities.

5. Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition: A game that gives a real sense of amazement with its premise. The robot dinosaurs make it feel so different from its peers that its worth it for those machines. A remarkable sense of scale and fun combat mechanics make it fun but grounded. The story is decent. Its the map design that makes me play this game for so long. When I start playing every session lasts a long time because its such a fun map to explore. The DLC brings new content but its really an extension of the game, which is good because with all this content there still isn't enough of it and there wouldn't be till a sequel.

So many awesome PS4-Games in the past and this year, its really hard to say. For me:
1. Persona 5 (best story, jrpg-gameplay and characters in the last years!)
2. Detroit Become Human (my game of the year 2018, currently. the story/atmosphere is fantastic. the characters & soundtracks wonderful)
3. Yakuza Zero / Yakuza 6 (EPIC! impressive bossfights, emotions and gameplay)
4. Uncharted 4 (i play it 4x, the details are incridible. i love "Naughty Dog" and "The Last of Us")
5. Ni No Kuni 2 (It's like a playable anime-movie and looks gorgeous)

PS: "God of War" I play through in the next few days - the quality is also impressive in this game.

I have yet to play God of War, Ni No Kuni 2, and Yakuza 0 and 6 So things are subject to change

Persona 5
Nier Automata
Final Fantasy 15
Bloodborne
While 5th place is a tie with a couple games, Last Guardian, Metal Gear Solid 5, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Detriot Become Human, and Nioh.

I only know top 4 right now:

Nioh
Persona 5
Monster Hunter World
Disgaea 5

Candidates for top 5 include Fallout 4, FFXV, FF Type 0 HD, Bloodborne, DW9, MGS V, Uncharted 4, Dragon quest Heroes 1 & 2, FFXIV, Samurai Warriors 4, Dark Souls 3, Disgaea 5, Infamous Second Son.

Witcher 3 - I have never played an rpg game like this one. From the characters, story and world this is one of my favorite games ever. I was a little apprehensive to play this game because it's the third one and I never played the other two but this game is so welcoming to new players wuth little to no knowledge of the previous entries. Hours of investment in this game.

Monster Hunter: World - I've been a fan of Monster Hunter for years now and this game us one of my favorites in the franchise right next to Tri and 4U. Generations burnt me out of MH but with all the new improvements and overall design of the game this resparked my excitement. Hours of investment in this game too.

God of War - Never was a fan of the previous games but this was so good. The combat is excellent even though it gets a little bit hectic at times and the story resembled more of a heroic fantasy than an epic fantasy but it was still a beautiful story. The relationship between father and son was also developed really well.

Persona 5 - Probably my first jrpg that isn't Pokemon and I love it. I haven't beaten it yet since I'll admit I had to take a break from it but so far everything about it is good. Love the music and the characters. It did start hard for me but the more you play the better you will become.

Overwatch - Besides the Gear of War franchise this is my favorite fps franchise. It's aggravating and toxic but damn it's addicting.

I have some honorable mentions like Dark Souls 3 and KH 1.5 + 2.5 Remix. For Dark Souls 3 it was fun when I was into it but after beating it I didn't feel the need to start over and when I did I just got bored (This was before all the dlc never played them). For KH I mainly enjoyed the second one and BBS. Hated the first one and chain of memories. I'll never ever replay them.
