Considering internet faulter even for video streaming, I intend to keep buying HW.

Pretty sure we heard the same thing last gen too. I also sincerely doubt we’re going all digital/ streaming anytime soon, because there’s so many markets where consoles are popular, but they simply don’t have access to the internet speeds required for such a transition yet. Hell if, Net Neutrality goes away in the US, I hope to god consoles stay having physical media until we can get the current piece of shit administration and replace them with one that has at least some level of human decency...

The future of video gaming: Go to turn on a video game and the screen says "Can't connect to the Cloud right now".

I don't think so. They have said this before.

If that's what Ubisoft believes then they should lead by example and put 100% of their future games on the cloud. Dont bother putting it in the digital store or at retailers and lets see how their sales will go hehe. I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in forever so I dont care what they do with their games lol

Input lag depending on how far your house is from where the server is located.

Get ready to press a button, and wait 2secounds before the character on the screen jumps (depending on ping).
Would be great for mario platformers Im sure... because who wants local hardware to run games? input lag isnt a issue right?

This is putting me even further off cloud based gaming.

Its not a issue for turn based rpgs.... but seriously a game like Super Mario Bro's needs responsive action when you press a button on your controller.
Input lag seriously makes these games near unplayable imo.

I believe him. 9th gen might last even 10 years ... that's 2030! By that time you'll be able to stream 8k (or higher) games on your phone, using 5G. 20 years ago I had 0.5Mbit internet connection. 10 years ago, 20Mbit. Today, 100Mbit. Netflix of gaming is the future whether we like it or not.

Internet Speed (the amount of data you can send/recieve at will improve over time).... however certain lows of physics means stuff in input lag will always be a issue with streaming.

So a streaming based service will NEVER be as smooth and quick/responsive as a local peice of hardware.

Streaming a movie, doesnt require instant & constant back and forth..... they just buffer things and send lots of data.
So yeah in the future streaming 8k will be possible.

Netflix of gameing isnt the future imo, because theres no way around the physical time it takes for a signal to move around the world.
There will always be people that dislike the fact that as you push a button, it takes 1-2sec before a action happends on the screen.
This isnt limited by download or upload speed, so just getting faster speeds wont improve it.

Faster internet (download & upload speeds) will effect how much data can go back and forth, not the speed it travels.
But it should allow for streaming games to eventually "look" as good as it would if you ran it on local hardware.

So maybe in the future, streaming serives will be the "low end" option for the poor.
Those that dont care that it takes 1-2sec when you push a button, before action happends on the screen.
And those that are looking to save that initial 400$ investment buying a console might take.

A game like Detroit become human,.... could be playable via game streaming in the future, as would lots of single player games.
Those online multiplayer competitive shooters? those types are NOT well suited for streaming.
