I own all three consoles and use my Xbox One for third/first party online gaming because Xbox One doesn't, for one thing, ever go down for "routine maintenance". Can't tell you how many fucking times I would go on my PS4 to play online and have to put up with that shit. It's inexcusable.

So for me, the Xbox One definitely has its place. Yes, it's lacking in exclusives but, for me, its worth owning for XBL alone.

Weird, I own all the consoles too and outside of maybe Christmas time (when the Xbox also has the same problem) I have never run into that situation... and I have had the ps4 since launch... maybe different parts of the world struggle more?  Still weird.

i do agree that exclusives aren’t the end all be all of console gaming.  The Internet forums way over emphasize them.  Still, I am very disappointed in Microsoft.  I expect better from them.  The early 360 years were freaking amazing!  They have definitely lost their way...

I wouldn't say "have" lost their way but definitely lost it there for a good while. From the start of Kinect until Don got fired, they were pretty much clueless. But ever since Phil took over, the entire damn thing has been rectified as far as "gaming" goes apart from first party games which, takes years to turn around.

I fully expect a complete turn around next generation.

So does that mean 2019 will be the biggest year for Xbox one guys? Just wait okay.... Just give us 2 more years and the system you bought in 2013 will have a game to play.

At this stage anyone who would limit themselves to just a ms system must have shares in them or some reason other than gaming to want to support that system as someone with a PC/switch/PS4 I would really really some convincing that there is merit to having an x1 under your tv

Or maybe they just like the console and only play multiplat games on it with the occasional exclusive? Last time I checked the X1 is perfectly fine to play with.

Guess if your mates were still on the Xbox brand since the X360 would be a tough move to shift over all of them to the ps4 but I think at this stage it's a cool option, you basically have all the same third party support and more in area's as well as getting access to ps exclusive stuff....

At the end of the day I guess there are probably very few gamers with just 1 machine at hand though.

The Xbox One brought classic innovations such as Kinect gaming. A feature that will surely continue to revolutionise gaming throughout the years to come. I can't imagine such a wonderful feature ever going away. Oh wait. Never mind. I guess it makes a good collectors item.

Flash forward twenty years: "Hey kids, remember those classic consoles that were not very successful such as the Sega Dreamcast, and Wii U? There were other consoles like them, except they didn't have any games." *reveals Xbox One and Atari Jaguar*.
"My favourite was the Jaguar because it was named after a cat."

Both units together will now set you back less than €20 if you think it's going to be a collectors item you could fill an attic with the things for a few hundred quid :D

And named the most powerful CPU for the 8th gen =p

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Actually they should have released the games this years , because from the quality it had shown it will be mediocre at best like state of decay. Holding it and perfected will not change anything. What ever Microsoft tried to perfected their exclusives games they will not able to make great games like SONY or Switch , they just need to depend on quantity over quality. And let the time polish their experience and mistake, like SONY did in past three generation.

Event if the games was a fluke or decent at best, they still have a thing to shows , and they can still learn from the mistakes.

FFXV got delayed into a fresh generation though. Crackdown 3 is delayed into the death part of the generation.

Eh, I wouldn't call 2019 the death year. Next-gen consoles will release Holiday 2020 most likely, so I'd call 2020 the death year for current gen games. The last year before next gen consoles release is usually a good year for games actually. Halo 4 for instance released in 2012, a year before Xbox One released in 2013, and it not only managed to have the biggest launch in the Halo series up to that point, but also managed to become the 2nd bestselling game in the series lifetime wise. Alot of other big games released in 2012 as well. Far Cry 3 sold over 10m, the biggest game in the series up till that point. Assassin's Creed 3 had the biggest launch in the series up till that point, and sold 12m lifetime, which means it is still the number one selling game in the franchise. Black Ops 2 had the biggest launch in the CoD series up till that point and is still the #1 bestselling game in the series to date lifetime. Borderlands 2 has sold over 13m copies, 2K's bestselling game to date. Mass Effect 3 is still the bestselling Mass Effect game to date. So yeah, 2019 games should all sell quite well, I can't see the impending release of next gen consoles in 2020 affecting sales much.

Hard to say the same will be true for XB1 games though.

All of those games released are Halo on 360 or multiplat big games on 360 and PS3. Both consoles were close to peaking saleswise in their later years. I am not sure XB1 will keep up its momentum into 2019.

Even so, Crackdown 3 hasn't had an entry in a long time, and even FF is a strong franchise. While they didn't release a numbered entry in awhile, FF Type 0 HD was close to it. 8+ years since the last Crackdown, much longer than any of those listed.

I am rambling a bit, but the point is that the delay is much worse for Crackdown than any of those listed including FFXV. If the game is good like many of those big multiplat games, then yes it has a good chance.

Delay sucks but I hope the game is better because of it. With gamepass I think the game will get millions of players regardless.

Microsoft needs to at least try, Sony is left with almost no competition and that is not good for consumers.

If MS keeps screwing like that Sony could be like, why do we even try? No one's gonna catch up with us anyway.

I don't see MS doing much for what's left of this gen but I hope they will rev up their engines comes next gen. We need a good old fashion competition between MS and Sony next gen. Monopolies are never good for consumers.

Me? No, I never went for Microsoft hardware it was never my thing to begin with but that's not my point. I think we need competition to stimulate creativity and production.

Sony is doing great for now but if they stay too long at the top spot they will eventually lose their motivation. Monopolies have always been a bad thing for consumers, it's diversity that allows us all to have choice and that pushes companies to go for quality.

We may have our differences of opinion between PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox but it's competition that pushes for great games and experiences, a monopoly would kill all that.
