Forums - PC Discussion - Valve Says It Will Now Allow Everything on Steam Unless It's Illegal or "Straight-up Trolling"

I can't really say that I like it. Valve's control over Steam has been, at least from the outside, quite bad. From games that don't even work, to games that are nothing more than a way to get easy steam cards to later sell in the market to lots of games that are almost straight copies from other more popular games. And that's with them controlling it! Imagine what will happen now!

I don't know, I think Steam has become too big for a Valve that hasn't grown enough to take care of it. I doubt it will end well.

Please excuse my bad English.

Gabe just doesn't want to adress the probleem for a while now. It's kinda of ironic that a man of his age and stature doesn't understand that the previous gaming crash was largely because gamers lost focus on quality control. You would think Valve would take great steps in setting and keeping a good brand value for Steam. But apparently not .

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I agree with this, they didn't really have much choice. It will allow them to focus on other things, as they say, and that's always welcome. Complaints will always exist, I remember the storm of hate towards Postal 2 when that released, it was like nothing else in its time and people went apeshit over it.

Quality control and whine responses are two different things though, sometimes I wonder if Steam has become too big for its own good, there are bound to be more turds on there now. All in all, I support their decision though.

Tbs I've found this within other storefronts like Origin. Games that aren't updated to work with modern OS's like the old (now digital) C&C collection.

I haven't really come across a storefront that was perfect and devoid of garbage (I find Hearthstone to being lame, as well as Activision now dumping their games onto B.net).

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

This is exactly the opposite direction i wanted Steam to go.. quality over quantity should be there way of thinking.

I'd rather not be told what I can/cannot buy.

I know you're likely to have an excuse for that reasoning, but there is none in this universe that will make me complacent with it. You simply never tell me what I can/cannot buy.

The problem is competition, or the lack of it. Stores like GOG, Origin or UPlay don't come even close to the volume of games of Steam.

And that can lead to Valve not feeling the need to improve, which is never a good thing.

No one is telling you anything. I rather Quality in the shops than a flooded menu of $5 trashy indie games filling in every screen when I go game hunting. That's just my opinion. Its one reason why Nintendo do so well in there history because of there QC.

I agree with this myself I do not think any content should be blocked. If you do not like the content of something do not buy it.

However early access really needs to die and they need to get rid of shovelware. Finding decent games on Steam is an absolute chore as the vast majority are shovelware or in alpha stages.

Because of this philosophy my days of impulse buying on steam is gone.

Seems like good. Let the gamers decide if they want to buy or not.

It's funny how you're contradicting youself in the same post. Either everything is allowed or not, but not both things.

And, by the way, most of us are against this new policy because it will mean a lot more shovelware on the store.
